Headed to Matamoris to visit my brother this morning.

 

Good Morning all, i have a few days off looking after the wifey , hope to get a few things done around the house, first is to figure out on getting a spare tire mounted in the new cross, it comes with a can of fix a flat and a pump LOL. I bought a wheel from Toyota and a spare doughnut from tire rack , just have to mathematically install it in the hatch well. Pics coming. All have a good day.

That's wild to me a can of fix a flat. Not gonna help if the sidewall gets cut or ripped open.

Funny you say that. Not long after I bought my 7x8 Lamar car hauler trailer I was driving back on 376 west out by 79 split when I saw a Kia Soul on the side of the rod with a flat tire and a 84 year old man trying to air up the tire with the air pump it came with. I pulled over in front of his car (as I usually do if I see someone on the side of the road). I asked if he needed help, he said "Just trying to air up my flat tire". I told him I had a better compressor, cordless impact gun, tools and jack in my truck. I went to air up the tire and heard the air rushing out of the sidewall on the inside so I looked in the back for the spare, we both found out that his car doesn't come with a spre tire. I told him I could haul his car to a shop, he told me he has another set of wheels and tires at his house so I said I can haul it there. I drive the car onto my trailer, strapped it down and gave him a cold water from my cooler (it was 96°out in the middle of August and he'd already been out there for 3 hours without one person stopping to help). He got in my truck and I hauled his car to his house. When we got there I unstrapped the wheels and unloaded the car into his driveway by his garage. He asked how much I owed him and I said "Nothing, if we can't help each other than why are we here, just pay it forward when you see someone else in need".

 

About 2 years ago I had stopped at a restaurant after work to pick up a Christmas gift only to find they were closed on Monday. I'm getting back on my bike to leave and heard a car pull out of a nearby spot and you could hear that sort of whop, whop, whop of a flat tire as the lady drove. I flagged her down and told her she had a flat but if she wanted I would install her spare. Initially she didn't want to bother me and was going to call her husband. She parked the car and popped the trunk and I started changing the tire while we waited on her husband. The entire inner sidewall of the tire was blown out and when I looked at the "born on date" on the tires they were all over 10 years old! By the time her husband arrived I had the spare on and everything put away but I strongly suggested they should go tire shopping. Both offered money for my time but I turned it all down and told them to just make sure you let your friends know it was some dirty biker who helped you out. LOL.

 

All this spare talk, reminds me I need to check the spares in the trunk of the two cars. Gotta drop the one on the Tacoma and flip it around. It actually has a real full size spare unlike some of the other ones, so I guess I'm lucky there.

 

That's something no one ever checks. Only takes a few minutes...

I haven't had a spare tire for my tacoma in like 5 yrs. Which honestly I need to make a spare tire mount for the bed of my truck as I don't have the drop down anymore when I sold the bed rack it had my spare tire drop down attached to it.
