I had this done and it made a difference. I definitely need to do the Big Brake Kit or the Tundra upgrade though, to get where i need to be with all the extra weight.

If you're going to do a Powerstop kit look up the part number on Powerstop's site then search it on www.rcagarage.com. I've bought a couple of pad and rotor kits from them and found they have very good prices and they don't charge sales tax so you can save a few more bucks.

 

That woukd be a %7 savings for me.

In my county in New Yorkistan it's over 8.5%. I miss the days of not getting charged tax for online/phone orders from out of state stores.

I've done a couple of quick stops and noticed the OEM front brakes don't brake as good as I'd like.

My thought is...when I get new wheels/tires, I definitely would like to upgrade brakes all around.

I'm at 30K+ miles and looking to move forward with project at 50-60K miles.

 

I wouldn't mind going to bigger front brakes but since I run 16" steelies with snows in the winter I don't think I could do a worthwhile upgrade to larger rotors without buying another set of wheels and tires for winter use.

 

Lots of people on FB market place selling 17" stock takeoff's for cheap. I would consider those for "winter" and then you get the benefits of larger brakes.

 

Speaking of gas, I can't recall getting such a good mpg on my gas for a trip from town to home. no highway.

 

Maybe when it's time for new snow tires.
