This Buick Century had been sitting in the parking lot of the Walmart in Warrington, PA for probably a week when I took these pictures yesterday; I was at this Walmart several at least three times and noticed that the rear tire was going flat and the windows were down. When I walked past the car on Monday when we were going to get Amanda’s contacts, I saw all the snow inside it. I decided to run the NJ license plate through Carfax, and it came back to a 2007 Kia. This car is much older than 2007, and clearly not a Kia (I believe they stopped making the Buick Century in 2004 or 2005). I informed some Walmart employees that there may be a stolen car in their lot, and when we went out to the parking lot so I could show them where the car is, a cop happened to be driving through on routine patrol; I flagged down the cop, pointed out the Buick, and expressed my concern. The cop told me the owner had called them and informed them that the car would not start, and they were finally on their way to pick it up. Aside from the flat tire, the car seemed to be in decent shape before the snow came in through the windows. The cop did not seem to be concerned that the car had a plate from a Kia on it, but it’s still weird…

Power windows are much more convenient than the crank windows, until your car suffers an electrical or mechanical failure that prevents you from putting them up before a snowstorm…

No idea why it has cloth seats, but leather upholstery on the door panels; I also found it weird that the car had an AM/FM stereo with no CD or cassette…

Aside from a flat tire and a cracked taillight cover, the car seemed to have been in decent shape…

I vaguely remember a Chrysler product in the 1960's that had power windows and also hand cranks you could still use.

I believe this generation of Century was made from 1998 to 2005, and I still see a decent amount of them around. However, I’ve seen them with a cassette player, a CD player, or both. This is the only early 2000s Buick that I’ve seen with just an AM/FM stereo…

If you look closely in the lower driver’s side corner of the windshield, you can see PA inspection stickers that expired in October 2020. My guess would be, based on the cop’s reaction, that this car sat for a while and was transferred from PA to NJ when it changed owners. The current owner likely replaced a 2007 Kia with this car, and the DMV hasn’t finished changing it over…

It leaves me with a lot of questions…

What the hell happened to this car that it didn’t even have power to put the windows up?

Who, in this day and age, doesn’t have AAA or family/friends who can help them get the car home?

Good morning PA. I look at my thermostat on the way into the bathroom and it says -12. I come out a few minutes later and look and it says -9. Either way, it's cold.

Yesterday morning my one ring camera wasn't working, the one exposed to the elements. Changed the battery and it worked. Woke up this morning and found two aren't working - including the one porch shielded from the wind. Changed the batteries and they work. the batteries are years old and I keep the charged but I guess it's just too cold for a battery to work. I hope my Taco and the wife's Rav4 start this morning. I ran them yesterday for about 10 minutes. We'll see in a hour or so when I go out with the dog.
