Oh my how embarrassing, thanks for the help but I had to give up. Assembled the old shock and spring and buttoned it up and drove it to the shop. Didn't have enough weight to keep it from lifting I got my butt handed to me lol thanks so much @igotalotofrice for staying with and helping till the bitter end!

 

Yeah, but I learned that ATF and Acetone work amazingly

 

If you need more than the 48, you're doing it wrong. Not popular, but true.

 

i've used every bit of my 60" hi lift on the trails. But my truck is lifted on 36s with a shackle flip. Here's a situation where a 48" jack would have been useless

 

Hmm but the rear bumper hole and shackle were lower on that same side.

That's true but unfortunetly there was no flat surface to place the jack there so I had to use the side of the bumper.

Tried here but the jack flew out LOL

Looks like you could have picked from your sliders too. It is obvious that with the taller lift that more pick points become avaliable, but if you only had the 48, you simply would've set the lift at a different point. The 60 is convenient, but not needed, and that extra foot of leverage is a double edged sword, increasing the risk factor faster than adding mechanical advantage. Craig's at least has an oversized metal pad for a better plant but the compression leg is only a 1x2 inch cross section, to balance three tons of truck.

 

Damn guys I didn't know everyone felt so strongly about 48 vs 60 I wasn't trying to start a war.....

 

Not everyone needs or can use a 60, plus they can be a PITA to mount or have in the bed, not to mention that these things can quickly become a hazard when in use, and the bigger they are, the more damage they do. Opinions, opinions everywhere.

 

Now you fucked up a 60 is all you need 69 The only options you have is a D or P in your face.....you pick

Hi-lifts are dangerous as fuck on flat pavement, let alone in a rock garden where there is no flat surface.

Can you make a 48" work? Yup.

Will a 60" likely give you more, safer options? Yup.

Is the $10 you'd save on the 48" worth less choices for a jack point? Up to the one buying...

The price didn't have much to do with it. Mostly a storage question and how often they get used.
