That's rough ! I've had to talk to many family members who have lost loved ones in accidents. My most heart breaking was a man who lost control of his car, went off the road and sheared off a telephone pole. When the pole fell, it crushed part of his car, killing his 4 year old daughter. But being on the scene and witnessing what you did... wow, terrible. I've handled claims where our driver is at fault in a fatality accident and I have paid witnesses and those rendering assistance money for their emotional and psychological suffering.

That sucks @silverpataco1968 . I've been first, or close to, for a couple fatal MVAs, not ever good.

No... not EVER good. Thank Goodness those are not common. I handle about 800 claims per year and maybe 3 of them involve fatalities.

Plenty of great products so far !
I drive about 2.4 million miles in my life the last 32 years and I've come upon some terrible accidents. His daughter asking for her dad really hit me! I've got 1800-2000 miles this week coming up! I'm glad I have recovery gear with me everyday and I'll help anyone.

Same way, recover gear, first aid kits and survival kits. Good thing there is plenty of room behind our seats.

I truly hope if I am ever in that kind of accident , you are there to help me. 99% of people today would not stop to help. What a horrible way to end the week, BUT, you did save a child. You are a Good Man, I dont know how you could of possibly offended any one telling this horrible story. When I see my Daughter today I'm going to hug her a little tighter than I normally do.

    .

My job has me on the road as well. Fortunately I have not rolled up on a mva of that nature.

I see some bizarre behavior on the road that makes me think "what the front yard!" I've even caught myself and had to say whoa easy it back there Cochise.

Just a reminder, first response courses are available and it would be awesome for anyone that spends a lot of time on the road to get to know the basics.
Never know when someone will need help and having the tools to assist is half the battle.

I know how to deal with and my IFAK is set up to handle an open pneumothorax. A couple years back a number of RSOs at our club did a combat first aid course taught by a trauma surgeon a good bit of what we went over was specific to gunshot wounds. Probably good to refresh though.

Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Driving home from work Tuesday ( Thompson BMW ) coming down 611 toward Street Road. I slid off the road in my civic, didn't drive my truck up from Baltimore this week, and a nice guy in a lifted ford ranger pulled me out. You people are much nicer then folks back home :):)

Most drivers in Baltimore or DC wouldn't even take their foot off the go pedal. Another reason I'm happy to be moving back to my home state of PA.

Went to the Aquarium with my girlfriend on Saturday. Coming out we saw two dudes with ski masks on doing wheelies in between the traffic and thru stop lights.

Damn. Very sad. Sorry you saw that. That's one of my worst fears as a father with very young kids. Something happening to me if I'm alone with them and my kids being alone. sent for that little girl. :(
