my dad bought a guys garage full of wood/metal fab stuff and there was a nice miller stick welder in there and i learned on that for i guess about 3 months. i got a mig for christmas so everything just became easier. but i like it. its fun and useful, and something a lot of people can't do.

A friend of mine was teaching me to TIG weld
I did fairly well with steel, didn't get opportunity to work with any expensive alloys

Thanks. That's a bit out of way for me. My company gets all our large cylinders from them but looks like we get no discounts 52 for refil and 179 for 88 cylinder

Don't think I'm gonna need 300. Don't have that much space or need lol. I don't weld that much. How many spools of wire does 300 last? Like how many 10lb or whatever you use

What kind material do you need to make bumper or sliders? Carbon steel or cold rolled steel?

Carbon steel and Cold rolled steel are pretty much the same thing maybe you meant hot rolled

Hot rolled has a cleaner finish Cold rolled depending on the Mill it was made can really have bad mill scale that at times needs cleaned off

Carbon is just the amount of Carbon in the steel the more Carbon the harder it gets but also more brittle that is why tool steel tends to shatter on impact

One can go with a Mild steel Tube if on a budget Or spend the Money and go Chrome Moly

There are so many variables to how long shielding gas might last .

Have a leak forget to turn the tank off over night one day

Do things Correct hobby welding it should last years

I could sit down and do the math but that is to much like work

Try not to confuse Tig welding of Aluminum and Mig welding Aluminum with a Spool gun Welding Brand New Aluminum is not bad used weathered can be a royal pain to get clean

IMG_0001.jpg Just went outside and I have bed rack that I got that's too narrow for my truck and don't think I would wanna put it on even if I made it wider but it does have nice base for sliders lol. 1.75 square tubing. Maybe make that as base and go from there?
