It will probably be comparable honestly. Those Bose systems were good (and expensive) so don’t get your hopes up too high.
You won’t notice a massive difference in the 200.4 vs the 180.4.
You will only notice a mild difference in the 10” vs the 8”
I personally would spend a little more on speakers (the new Kicker KS 6x9 components are good for the money) and do a separate sub/amp. A single 10” in a real enclosure with a real amp is going to give you much more than the hideaway ever could. All while coming in very close in price (just takes a bit more work, but not much)

Interesting, not what I was expecting. Will a sub fit behind the backseat? if so, any suggestions?

Lots of subs will. A good handful of companies make boxes to go back there, as well as forum members like MrMarv. There are also some pre-built and pre-loaded options like the Kicker CompRT 10”, and the 12” fits with some modification.

IF you are looking for “more bass” than her system, then you may be disappointed with the Hideaway. To me the Hideaway just rounded out the system for me. For a good amount of bass you need to get separate subwoofer and amp. A combo unit will not give you the booming bass most people want. JMO.

So the tweeters in the KS component system would replace the Subaru tweeters? It says here that they don’t fit the Tacoma and they aren’t even available in Crutchfield. Then I guess I would get the 2 way KS for the rear. Probably just wait on the sub if I go this route. I’d rather do it right

You are correct, that tweeter would replace the Subaru tweeter. They were just announced a few months ago and the official release got pushed back a tad from Covid, so they’re not out yet. Crutchfield (for some reason) says many of the KS line won’t fit (even though I and many others have them in their trucks and can confirm they fit fine.

    Thanks!

this is good to know, I think the kids just got me the 6x9’s and 6 3/4” for Father’s Day.

I still need tweeters and sub.

Woah I like the specs on the key 500.1! I also like that it’s 1ohm stable, because the RF T1S-1x10 is my next idea...

I have that kicker sub currently and am pushing it with a Kenwood m300.1. It hits really hard. There are some songs with super low notes it won’t play down to but in not sure how much is the sub, the amp, or the stock HU. I’d say I’m 94% satisfied with it at 300w.

Really deep bass needs a big box more than anything. We just don’t have room in our trucks for it unfortunately

Depends what really low is. Image Dynamics drivers can dig really low in medium sized sealed boxes, but you’re right that the compact “all in one” sub packages aren’t going to get low or loud due to enclosure volume and power.

Even my CompRT in it’s super shallow sealed box (but still has a Passive radiator) doesn’t hit anywhere near as deep as that same speaker mounted in a slightly larger ported box. I have a 10” L7R (basically the CompR speaker with a square cone) in a fairly shallow ported box (probably twice the depth of my compRT) in my wife’s car and that thing SLAMS with the same amp I’m running in my truck.

I definitely agree that some subs can pull it off better than others. Our trucks just get all the tough things (extremely shallow space, very limited hight, motors and brackets and all sorts of crap in the way) so we do the best we can

Now instead of getting 2 Key Amps, I am considering a 5 channel amp, its just more wire routing right?

Yeah but it’s still super easy. Same t-harness process, and you’re just running 2 lengths of speed wire and your main 4awg power wire

    9-wire multiconductor cable.

it’s a single run of wire (the size of 4awg) but contains 9 individual 18awg wires
Similar to how Ethernet/cat5 has 8 wires inside a single sheathing.

they are color coded for standard stereo wiring (white, grey, green, purple, blue)

Ive noticed that, suspension stiffness makes a lot of difference how well a driver plays with a sealed vs ported enclosure. Hence I throw out ID for sealed, their ID subs and I believe IDQ subs all have a pretty soft suspension. They tend to behave well with a sealed enclosure.

I had a Sundown SA12 before that was not a happy camper in a sealed box, but in the right ported enclosure, tuned to 32 hz, it was impressive.

9 wires in one bundle, gives you positive and negative for four speakers plus a remote turn on. Simplifies 4 channel amp wiring.

I’m reserving judgement on any subwoofer until I get the Key installed and see where that leaves me. If I’m still not happy, may build my own box down the road. Kinda wondering if I could stuff a Sundown X6.5 in a small ported box back behind the seat. 0.3 cubes plus port sounds doable on the face of it.

    ok that is genius!

off to look for speed wire and compare 5 channel amps
