Ok since I cannot remember from years ago, with a 5 channel amp, can I run 4 channels at 4 ohms and the sub channel at 2 ohms?

Or do all the channels need to be matching ohms?

About to install my kicker speakers and I'm going to imagine that my next purchase will be this hideaway. Can you guys tell me if this sounds about right for the wiring of the kicker:

So I'll need my main power to the battery. Assuming I don't need a fuse since the amp already has one on it, right? (EDIT: I now know I need a 15A fuse connected to the line)

    Then obviously GND.

Then remote turn on which I'd splice behind the HU to the blue cable I think it is?

This is where I have a hard time remembering what to do so long as all I said above is correct:

The adapter that comes with the hideaway, I need to splice RCA cables to that, then hook it up to my HU (which will most likely need an adapter)? OR I just splice them to the speaker wire?

    Then I'm done?

Final Edit: I figured it out

Question about the Kicker Key and it’s auto-dsp. Anyone know if it maintains the tuning if you disconnect the battery? Or would it need to be redone? Can’t find a definitive answer looking online.

It holds the tune even if it loses power.

So I need to wire in the supplied cross over to the factory plug harness?

these 6x9’s have 3 terminals which is odd.

Wait... you got the KSC (3-way coaxial) and it has an external crossover? I’m confused

    Yes exactly!

now you know why I am asking, it has a cross over (assuming for the tweeter) on the terminals, but they came with an external crossover with a tag on them “must use”

This is what I found at Crutchfield.

Sounds as if the three terminals may be different sizes to coincide with the three connections on the inline crossover. Owner’s manual doesn’t say anything helpful about them.

Wish I could be more helpful than using Google Fu. I’ve never heard of a coaxial speaker with an external crossover either.

me neither and the reason I asked, thought it was odd.
I mean they are not components right?

Technically, a three way coaxial is composed of three separate drivers, the tweeter can’t handle a full range signal without getting smoked. I’m just more used to seeing capacitors (probably what that crossover is using) mounted to the actual speaker rather than separate.

Only difference between what you have and a component set is the tweeters are collocated with the woofer, vs separately mounted as with a component set.

Kicker swap complete and I didn’t lose any of those white clips!

the sound is crisp and clear but with the factory HU it lacks low end.

Yeah the new woofer is much heavier, much stiffer, has a much larger magnet. The 5w per speaker up front just isn’t enough for a speaker like that
