I'm trying to install my Kicker hs-8 hideaway sub under my driver's seat. No matter how I try to slide it in from behind it, it seems like it is half an inch too big to get past where the seat is bolted down. I hate to unbolt the entire seat for an experiment if it's not going to work. So, I thought I would ask here first if anyone was able to do it? Thank you.

Add spacers and longer bolts to the back legs of the seat. I have the alpine sub under the passenger seat. If that doesn't work, in addition to the seat spacer you will need to flip a bar that is under the seat (at least on the passenger side).

I have not done it, but I have unbolted my seat.

Unbolting the seat is super simple, and it's pretty light too. I would suggest removing the rear bolts completely and loosening the front bolts. Then lift the rear of the seat, put a block of wood under one of the brackets for a spacer, slide your hs-8 under, remove the wood, and check for clearance.

I figured it out. I was so set on mounting it horizontally that I didn't even think about shoving it in their longways. I just assumed it was not long enough. Turns out, it works great.

I recently installed a Kicker 8" Hideaway, but I removed the seat to do it. Didn't have to fight it this way. It takes about four minutes to pull the seat.
Sometimes the shortcuts we take turn out to be long cuts.

Pro Tip: install ground wire at front side of hump that the front of the seat bolts to. There is a 6mm threaded boss at this location.

    Good luck!
