2016 OR Sport with non JBL system. Installed a hideaway last week using the Metra harnesses, no problems. Today, I unplugged the hideaway and installed a Kicker Key using the TTunes harness so I could put the amp underneath the seat. Capped off the the blue remote turn on wire and am using DC offset.
Both yellow and red power wires are combined together and connected to the larger connector on the head unit to power the amp from the vehicle harness.
Now head unit wont turn off after turning off the truck. I even tried unplugging the the large connector from the amp. Even with the amp not plugged in, HU is still powered. Only way to turn it off is to remove the negative lead from the battery.
Should I power the amp straight from the battery using the red wire from the amp large connector? If so, what do I do with the yellow wire on the harness?
What can I connect the blue wire from the large amp connector to in order to see if the remote turn on is the problem?
Finally, how do I connect the hideaway once I get the power situation sorted out?
    Thanks in advance!

The red and yellow should not be tied together

The red is your accy wire, that tells the radio to turn on and off. The yellow is constant power, straight to the battery. So tying them together tells the radio to stay on

Factory wiring is NOT enough to power the H/U, Kicker Key and a Sub amp. You’ll start a fire that way. Having all that, I would say you need at least 8ga power and ground wire. Power, properly fused at the battery, and a good chassis ground in the cab. The H/U can use the truck harness, the amps should have 12V from the battery.

Thanks for the quick replies. I'll reroute the yellow wire to the battery and wire in the fuse block that came with the amp. I used the grounding bolt under the seat for the black wires so I think I am good there. Time to snip about 987 zip ties I used to organize the wires.

Yellow wire to the battery fixed the constant on problem. Now I get a loud thump when I power off the system. I am going to research this issue now.

i would run the run the red trigger wire to the amp for a turn-on signal. the thump you're experiencing is the radio turning off before the amp. a side effect of leaving the amp to auto-sense. with the red wire providing the turn-on signal, the amp should turn off at the exact same time as the radio, and should prevent the thump you're getting.

Red wire is going from the amp to the harness. I originally had the blue wire capped off and DC offset on. I reinstalled the hidaway connections and spliced the remote turn on (blue wire) into the hidaway remote turn on (blue wire) and disabled the DC offset to try to get rid on the thump. Plenty loud now, but still thumpin'. Are you suggesting tying the blue wire into the red? Will running a discrete blue turn on wire be any different that tying into the hidaway wire?
    Sorry for all the questions.
