Nothing there to worry about
There is a screw poking through at the top of the screwdriver. That is the grommet location i mentioned. The circled area is where the kidney shape is

In the middle of this install but holy crap there is so much noise without anything playing. It’s constant static. I purchased the key with the harness already made for stock entune unit. But I am using it on a dasaita headunit. I figured the new key harness would just go in between my aftermarket head-unit harness that’s already in place. Would I have to wire this differently? Any help would be much appreciated!

I wouldn't think you would need to wire anything differently, so long as the new HU is PnP. It sounds like the adapter harness takes care of rewiring it for you so that it is essentially PnP and you would just put the key harness before the new HU adapter harness. I could be wrong, and destin would probably know more.

The static is more than likely caused by the gain being turned up too high. The speakers really don't need much at all

That’s exactly what I had assumed... I thought that also but both are at zero. Even with both knobs completely turned counter clockwise it’s still really loud static

I’m tired af and I’ll probably wake up sick in the morning but what a relief I really made that seem much harder than it was and idk why I can’t use punctuation right now lol I tapped into the right speaker wire behind harness using T taps I took my time and ran loom and flex tube around everything I ground under seat where a ground was already made but I sanded the heck out of it to make sure I had a good solid ground super excited to be done with this I’ll have to bolt seats back down and rehang and straigten up some of the under hood wiring. Installed lights under hood tonight also just and led strip from wal mart in the morning was too tired I’m out! It was nearly 3 am when i finished EA77D294-7E5A-46DD-B82E-02D89AC8519E.jpg 38D29679-FE07-4CBF-BAB6-709E38FE8EB8.jpg E5D9F207-95B1-49DC-807D-72CAC1ABB41F.jpg

On my small connector for the key harness I have on pin on the lower row that goes into a blank spot on the trucks harness; and vice versa on the other connector. Should those make contact or are they supposed to stay “open”?

yes i will get that soon! Thank you! I am in the middle of throwing in some kicker ks speakers right now so I will take the radio and amp out after. I’m hoping maybe with all speakers and tweeters being the ks line that might help with better sound.

Turns out it was the harness that was supplied with my aftermarket headunit. I knew it had to be something like that since the member I bought the key amp from used it flawlessly before shipping it to me

I am a newB who just got his first Tacoma (2014, TRD crew cab) some time ago. I am interested in adding an amplifier to the stock audio system I have as a first step and then replacing the speakers in a second step. Specifically I'm looking at adding a Pioneer GM-D1004 400W 4-Channel Amplifier in the dashboard. I've been following this thread with much interest and was wondering if there is any information anyone can offer about how to create a T-harness for a 2nd gen tacoma without JBL. If I understand correctly the excellent information provided here is for 3rd gen tacoma ... . Please excuse me if its a trivial question :)

Wrong. Sub is great, as is the Key. It has a built in DSP and in fact does greatly improve the audio. You spoke to an idiot.
