I definitely installed it right then. But I'm getting 0nsound from my head unit. Including fm am radio. There was only one plug on back of the head unit to plug the male red wolf harness (small side key), so I don't think it's backwards

I did a piss poor job stuffing it all behind the head unit though. Maybe I loosened something?

Is fuse installed at the battery?
Do you get any lights on the key when the radio is on?

Once you’ve checked those, plug the factory wiring back into the radio and see if you get sound. If you do, it’s something with the Key and we can go from there

Yes there's a 20A fuse on the power wire going from battery to harness. Grounded at passenger kick panel bolt. Will need to make some more time to go out there and test the rest sometime soon. Ty for giving me somewhere to start

Also make sure the first dip switch is set to DC and not 12v

Your gains should probably not be all the way down

Unplugged the harness put factory back together sound works. Plugged the key back in between head unit and wiring with higher gains, no sound...

Edit: I was looking at limiter lights not other side my bad. Red light comes on briefly when starting up vehicle then goes away. Haven't seen it go green yet

Next thing I can think of would be checking my wiring harness to make sure I connected em up properly.

I know the key harness has purple->green->grey/black->white/black and the redwolf harness was purple->green->white/black->grey/black.

It's very possible that I matched the white/black and grey/black backwards. I think I matched them up left to right, not necessarily color to color. It was odd to me that one was purple green white gray, and other was purple green gray white

I wired them sequentially, white wolf to gray kicker, gray wolf to white kicker. Left to right on both doesn't match sequentially so made a guess when making the harness to do it sequentially. I'm gonna color match them up instead of sequentially matching them up now. I assume I did this on the female end as well ugh

That wouldn’t keep it from working, it would just flip your front left and right

I'm buying one today. Never used one before or know what I'm buying exactly.

I reached out to Kicker and they asked me the same question

He also linked me to this, said some newer oem stereo require a resistive load. Idk what that means or what this is, I've read hundreds of pages on kicker key 200.4 discussions and nobody has mentioned needing ANOTHER kicker product to make the key work

No, you shouldn’t need that. Or at least like you mentioned, no other Tacoma has needed one.

you’ll want to test the key power to make sure there’s 12v+
If there is, you want to change the switch from DC to 12v, and pull your tape off the blue wire, and shove it into the red power wire spot. This will act as a remote trigger and force the Key on.

if it works, you’ll just need to use the remote wire.
your amp kit came with some so splice that on, and you can easily tap the cig lighter down lower in the dash

I'll test with multimeter on lunch break. Right now the remote wire is taped and free-floating in dash. So you are saying I might need to unwrap it, extend it with the remote wire that came with my kit to tap into cig lighter? I don't even know how to find that let alone access it or splice into it... I'm getting close to giving up on this. I don't understand why this worked for other ppl with 2020+ tacomas and mine isn't working as intended

More people have this issue than you think. They just dont post about it unfortunately. Sometimes the radio just doesnt play nice with the auto-turn-on feature. It's an easy problem in the grand scheme of things, but we want to make sure that's the actual problem first.

I don't know how to use this multimeter. But I can tell you that when I start my truck up with sound at 0, Bluetooth mode and no phone connected to it (so no audio signals being pushed into amp), it will stay green. The second I turn fm radio on and start turning up the volume (there is none still) the green light turns off, red light flashes, then no lights

I've been sitting here looking at a green light for 10min so it's getting power to the amp and maintaining. But the second I try to feed it sound (around volume 25 with gains 20%), it flashes red on and then neither red or green are showing

I have had kicker cs 6x9s up front, subi tweeters, and kicker cs 6-3/4s in the rear for about a month now
