Haha I still cleaned my truck bed so it's not all that different. I had a bed mat, now I have a cargo mat. Just pull them out and spray them off.

ARE cap, wade inchannel vent visors, weathertec floor mats, ranch hand grill guard, tuffy security boxes in bed, lockable tailgate handle. Still have stuff that needs to be installed and still have stuff ordered lol.
i too been thinking of doing same thing. i like the t4r trail. i would of got one instead of the tacoma if i would of known that once i got a new truck everyone would want to go places. i got the tacoma because i like pickups and when i was driving a ford edge nobody wanted to go places. but now the family wants to go to places all the time. t4r has more room for ppl in the back seat. but im gonna stick with the tacoma for now lol

Man I talk as much shit on the Prius as the next guy, but my buddy drive one from the Valley to Lake Havasu this weekend while I drive my 4Runner. He used 6 gallons of gas, I used 30...

I still wouldn't. I'd DD an accord, civic, Camry or Corolla though. Not as ugly, still great mileage.

I don't really like the new Hondas or the Corolla. I like the new Camrys. But still, Prius wins for gas mileage. I wouldn't really care for looks.

So I dealt with this issue a few years back. I had the Tacoma mildly modded and we got a brand new 2010 4Runner Trail. Absolutely, 100%, loved that vehicle. It was a beast offroad in stock form. Well gas had risen to over $4.00/gal and my income dropped a little bit so a decision had to be made. Ultimately I sold the 4runner for something more economical for my wife.

Fast forward to today and now gas is cheaper and our income is better and now we are possibly looking for a 2010-2013 4runner Trail again. I would give you this advice. If your income allows it, then keep both, but depending on what you USE your truck for, that will determine which to keep. I would have still kept the same decision of selling the 4runner but I sure do miss it.

Runners are sweet. If I didn't buy the taco it would have been a runner. However, I couldn't imagine having both. The truck can tow, haul, and wheel. The second car would be a tiny FWD hatchback for errands and commuting. Paying for gas for two thirsty body on frames would be insanity where I live. Gas is $1.15 a litre right now. (Multiply that by 3.78 to get price per gallon.). Gulp

I survived over 25 years with a homemade utility trailer, based off an old tilting boat trailer. Capacity wise it was barely smaller than the Tacoma bed, but would hold all the weight I ever needed to carry, just with a braced 3/4" plywood floor.

Sometimes the springs looked like OE Tacoma springs, but that was with a big load. :D

I fitted it with buddy bearings, 13" automotive wheels and tall tires, tracked great at interstate speeds.

It was cheap to build, cheap to maintain.

If you can only have one vehicle, and an SUV fits your needs for 80% of the time, a trailer may be your 'bed' solution.

I sold the 4Runner, got a camper shell on Tacoma put a Yakima Rack on. I miss the V8. I really miss it all together. But having 3 cars, paying insurance and property taxes was just too much!! You just have to write it down on paper what will fit your needs.

Maybe in a couple of years when the kiddos are out of daycare I'll look at getting another.

FWIW ... I have flip-flopped back and forth between SUV and pickup in last few years.

I get stung every time I go with a SUV ... because I need the bed sometimes and don't want to hook up a trailer or I need the bed ASAP and trailer is not available. Plus backing up in traffic is a pain with a trailer (my thoughts).

So, with a bed shell or a hard/soft cover compromise ... I went with waterproof bed cover. I am TRYING to have best of both worlds T4R & Taco, but it's not perfect but close for my needs.

    I don't need back seats 99.9999% of the time ... but I would like a "J-Car" like the T4R.

With all that said ... we have a tendency to TRY to validate what we have or what we want ... but our needs should come first.

Bottom line for me, I want a loaded T4R (love AWD much like Ridgeline), but I am in a Tacoma which is best for me. I want a loaded DC/SB Tacoma, but my needs say SR or SR5 in a AC/LB ... so that is what I got.

IMO ... the only thing that would make a Tacoma better is if it was a "J-Car" (but this is slowing changing too).

I don't have kids and I don't need a back seat or 3 rows of seats ... but I do like a P/U bed at times (hard or soft bed cover is a great compromise).

PS ... Putting my nasty stuff in the back of the pickup bed is a lot better than in the back of a loaded T4R with leather & etc.
