You're not taking this as seriously as you should be, and giving younger members a bad name.

I've had friends die because they were just "messing around"
and accidentally kill, when they "didnt think it was anything serious"

    It's called self control

Wanting to react and reacting are 2 completely different things

Do you realize how many times on a DAILY basis I have people cuss me out, spit on me, try to fight me etc etc

I know how and when to react...and with what level of force

Yes, in this case, the threat of an action would have likely been good enough. Saying "If you don't get your sorry behind off my truck, I'll do it for you" would get the attention of most people clearly.

I respect LE, but to claim this publicly is brash - all it takes with use of force determination is one slip-up to end a life and/or career. You're human and always learning.

    OP, IMO:
Stop arguing with Tiger. He's a good cop that will argue integrity until the interwebz goes down.

accept that though it seemed like the right thing to do, it was dangerous- like firing a rifle in someones direction "But not aiming DIRECTLY at them"

and don't do it again. Find another way to stop the douchebag from jumping on your truck. A good embarrassment never hurt an asshat

then be on your way.

I'm an officer because I like putting people who hurt others in jail

Just take this thread as a lesson

Using a vehicle in the way you described, when your life is NOT in danger, can EASILY be articulated as Aggravated Assault

Try thinking for a second before reacting next time

If he fucks up your truck...guess what...he's now the one going to jail...plus you have insurance

my dad worked for the Sheriffs office for a number of years. he knows when to react and how much force to use. and I have been raised around that.

yeah nowadays that little brat could turn just about anything into battery. You actually putting the vehicle into gear makes his case that much easier to prove in court (if he was so inclined to take you to court). Messed up, I know but its reality.
