Canada is not a republic.

 

On paper, Canada is considered a monarchy, in function though it is a democratic republic.

Incorrect on the guns, while no where near the 90 people per 100 gun ownership rate of the US, Canada ranks 30th with 19.5 per 100, so around 1/5 th that of the US.

 

What is different is that the demographic is mostly rural in Canada, versus probably an even mix, or even higher urban rate in the US.

 

That, I could live with. I hate urban areas.

 

A very distinct difference is no where in Canada is open carry of a handgun allowed unless it's required by your job duty. During transport of a handgun it must be secured with a trigger lock, and basically can be transported from home to gun range or gun repair, that's about it. Long gun rifle or shotgun is no problem.

 

I'd have taken a picture of the kid first. Then called the police.
