That's got to be fun when theres a lane shift for construction where the lane isn't as wide as it should be. Those spots where a semi can't completely fit in it's own lane.

Did you try 4-low? It disables traction control, it might disable other stuff too.

But that's against the BMW ethos.

I had a WTF moment like that in our 2024 BMW X5. I disabled all that crap immediately after.

I like how automakers invest in “safety technology” because drivers ed and most drivers on the road are utter trash.

I’ve been in a few Toyota rentals recently and my god the amount of fight they put up when you got make a right turn and graze the lane line.

My experience in general with the owners manual is that the answer is in the 600+ pages, not always intuitive using the index. It's okay to ask for help.

Read the owner's manual? Take in a few YouTube videos some dealer staff have made?

Early on I was bothered because the manual's not one of the best but it did not take long for me to like the way you have granular control and ability to tune some settings over our other vehicles having all or nothing choices or only partially disable option.

I'm not an off road hobbyist as some here are but trail building, trail maintenance and ski area crew stuff is a lot of off road driving and often in unusual circumstances. The bypass and tune options seem reasonable for all the benefits you have otherwise.

Reality is that is genius. Automobiles are a top public health problem. Driver's Ed. can't fix the reality of means, medians and incorrigibles. The robots are already proven to be helping those problems. As one who drives off road often I love that I can have the all or none of this at my choice.

From the experience of losing a family member to others' bad behavior I take another view of this technology. It was a bad experience for all involved. I sure hope none of you have to go through what we did.

All I was saying is "kindly" ask for help, no need for vulgarity in your quest for a solution.

I would have gladly helped find the answer, but...

No worries. On the subject of fluid film, I saw that toyota already sprayed the inside of the frame with wax so it’s probably overkill but it cannot hurt. I targeted bolts and components that were exposed / unpainted and already getting some surface rust. There was a small spot on the rear hitch receiver that was scratched and starting to rust and I hit it with black rustoleum.

Automobiles are a top public health problem? The modern funeral service revolves around the automobile.

Yeah, they had a problem with frame rust in the past, as I'm sure you know.

    I see you're in Texas, shouldn't be a worry.

My frame in South Florida (by the beach salt spray) is rust free after 12 years.

It's the "road salt" they use up north that kills them.

On a lighter note, I used to drive a VW bug with no floor board from upstate NY. :)

Just drive & don't worry! See ya

My hardcopy owner's manual is still in shrinkwrap. I downloaded the PDF version Toyota posts online, because it's searchable, and you can have it on your phone or tablet.

Same thing happened to me in a rental Bimmer down in Phoenix last week. Almost got in a wreck because the damn steering fought me when I tried to swerve. I couldn’t believe that shit! How did this pass the cost/benefit analysis??
