This is something I’d like for the same reason. This fix would be simple and effective. But having a motor endlessly crank over when someone is trying to carjack you in Cape Town, South Africa you can just shrug your shoulders and blame it on a bad starter motor. But a simple dead motor might be a give away...

If i can’t find anything else it should stop most people

If I wanted your truck I would just come and drag it away. Figure it out in a garage a few miles away. Then it does not matter what you did.

@GrandiOdyssey ever move forward with this? A toggle switch hidden inside the cab seems like the most practical solution as it can be disabled if you loan someone the truck, the truck's getting serviced, etc.

Caribe makaira's method is about as fool proof & simple as you'd need. Just a simple hidden SPST switch to break the starter solenoid circuit wire to the ignition switch.
But nothing is going to stop a determined thief.

I know it is an old thread but I will install a killswitch in the gas pump, I´ll let you know how it goes and how it works.

I can think of at least 3 scenarios a kill switch is helpful despite the presence of engine immobilizer:
    • they broken into your house, found your key, and they can easily drive off with your truck
    • they have a signal amplifiers that clone your smart key radio frequency and drive off your truck without the actual smart key presence
    • they broke into your truck, exploited vulnerability of your OBD2 port and reprogramed the truck to pair with a new key that they have and then drive off. (search dodge hellcats stolen )
not a bad idea to install one.

Alright boys so I tried to put the killswitch on the fuel injectors line in the fuse box, tbh it works amazing but the freaking engine light came out and I had troubles since so I will go back to the dealership to see if there was any further issues due to the instal, I scanned it and reprogrammed the injectors and the light dissapeared for a week but came back again, I will ask to the guys in the dealership if they know where could we do a bridge to install a killswitch without the truck whinning like a baby.

A hidden flip switch in the form of a fake BSM, or locker switch?? Perhaps that would throw them off, instead looking under the seat, etc.

I like this idea combined with a battery disconnect switch. I just want to frustrate them so they move on right away. If they are determined, they'll come back regardless. I also added two tile tracking devices on my tacoma, but am already thinking of adding a third.

Perhaps a magnetically actuated security door contact switch flush mounted in the center console in series with the start button- that would allow you to put a small magnet on the reed switch to allow the start button to work. When parking the truck in a bad area, take the magnet with you. - the start button wont work-
Ok guys, find the pitfalls of my idea- I really don’t know everything……

    Old thread, new ideas…

I’ve toyed with the idea of somehow putting a Bluetooth switch inline. One option is: Connected=yes, switch closed. Connected=no, switch open. Another option would be to simply bypass the pts, and use a module like linked below. Still need your key present, but now you have starting from your phone… but now only from your phone.

Consensus around here seems to relinquish yourself to being a victim. Do nothing CaUsE iF ThEy WaNt it tHeYlL StEaL iT.

Don't listen to the self-imposed victims.

Thieves are 0/3 on theft attempts of my rig.
Any competent tech can install an ignition or fuel pump switch in about 35mins for less than the price of a full tank of gas.

I would be hesitant to foil a car jacker. You get pulled out at gun point. They can't speed away. Now you end up spending the afternoon with your would be car jacker.

I think the main thing with a kill switch is to use a method that will not throw a code.
