Just a heads up for anyone who changes their own oil: Walmart has the 5qt jugs for $22.88 and then there's a $12 rebate from Mobil 1 making it about $10 for 5qts of full synthetic motor oil. Two per person per address so we got four and used a work address for rebate #'s 3 & 4. Cheapest price I've EVER seen on Mobil 1 and rebate ends at the end of the month. It's easy:

    1) go to Walmart and buy 5qt jugs of Mobil 1 full synthetic x2 (~$22.88per)
    2) Fill out this rebate and send w/copy of receipt (no UPC required)
    3) ????????
    4) Profit

If you have another person in your household or a 2nd address or something you can do this twice. Some have sent in a 2nd round after they got their first rebate checks but no word if it actually worked or not. I'm doubtful. Still the best deal on Mobile 1 I've ever seen.

    Enjoy!

But also "Purchase the eligible products at a participating retailer (listed below)" and "Limited to purchases made at participating retailers."

How do you know Walmart is a participating retailer?

At this price it's worth stocking up on.

It actually is. Several people called Mobil 1 to confirm and they said that it is indeed a participating retailer. Many people who bought theirs at a Walmart got their checks already including yours truly. It's legit.

How do you know its not? Walmart doesn't issue the rebate so as long as you buy Mobil 1 from an authorized retailer you should be fine.

If buying 5qts of oil that is already about the lowest price you will find and having a chance to get a $12 rebate that other people have already verified and worst case scenario you can still return the jug is too much of a risk for you then I suggest you not even attempt.

Ah OK. I stand corrected then.

Interesting to see a rebate check already. Often takes 5-8 weeks.

    Thanks for the heads up!
I'm going to get some now.

This seems to be a better link for the rebate pdf if it matters.

I don't really shop Walmart, what weights they carry?
    I'm looking for 0w20 or 5w20.

Depends on your Walmart but I've seen both of those weights because we used to buy them for the Camry Hybrid we had so I know they've got most of the popular weights but YMMV. BTW, you can install the Walmart app and I've found that the inventory feature is pretty close to real time of what's actually on the shelves give or take for stock counts being off. It's usually fairly accurate though to our local stores on items I check before driving down there and seems to be more up-to-date than the website function to check the same thing.

Damn good price even without the rebate.
    Costco has the quart 6pak for 37.99 = 31.65 for 5 qts.

My thought exactly. Even if you don't get the rebate you're still going to be hard pressed to find a better price. That's why returning it if you don't get the rebate is pointless because, if you're like me, you would have been buying it there for that price anyway. I just bought a few extra in advance of when I'd need them in a few months. Also, the concern about not getting the rebate isn't as big now that people confirmed Walmart is included in the rebate and got checks back & cashed already. The guinea pig phase of the process is over so you're welcome for volunteering to be the test mule. ;)

I think that's more like the normal price give or take a buck. When I stocked up they had a sale of a few bucks too so it was even better than usual.

Nice. Just remember to use a different name/address for each pair of rebates. Also, in case you guys didn't notice, the rebate has a spot to mark two 5qt jugs so you only need to send one rebate form & receipt per 2 rebates for a total of $24 in one rebate form/envelope. Makes life much easier than doing a separate one for each one. I rang all four of mine up separately thinking I would need to do a separate one for each one but should have just read the rebate form first and I could have saved some time/effort when checking out. Just a pro tip from someone who learned the hard way the first time to hopefully save others thinking about doing this a little time.
