Yes I would make one that fits the design it’s meant for. Might be good to make a V shaped tray that directs the fat to a central bucket like the PB does.

Ya I’m talking a compound V as in towards the center front to back and right to left.

Yeah.. I understand.. the current plate is a V... it just needs to be lowered on one end and a drain of some sort conjured up

Ya I figured you would end up with the hopper on both ends so out the back for the drain was easy.

Well I'm trying to avoid putting the hoppers on the ends.. one side I still have to come up with a motor and drive for the rotisserie part.. I'm likely mounting the hoppers on the back side (towards the trailer tongue)

Makes sense. Can put them both in the back.

    So much fail today...
But a small victory! After blowing off the end of an air hose that was actually too short anyways I stopped by the local TSC and found this 50 foot hose rated for 300 PSI and a free mini die grinder with several attachments for $19.99!!

It may not look like much has changed but got a few hours of work in on this today.

After a couple hours earlier in the week with the sand blaster and some coal slag that wasn't doing much I hit the whole thing with a couple different wire wheels on a 4 1/2 grinder because that's what I have right now.

Picked up some crushed glass that works fair on the surface rust but not much is touching whatever industrial paint and primer that's on this thing.

Seriously lost about 8 pounds in sweat today because I was wearing full PPE including a Tyvec suit. Had to pack things up when the rain clouds moved in.

Still open to any an all ideas from y'all out there.. gonna have to come up with a motor for the rotisserie aspect plus change out the lid hinges, straiten the lid and on and on and on.

Yup.. looked at those as well as many others.

Two things.. I do not want a direct drive motor and it's too fast.. 6 RPM .. I'm aiming for 2RPM...

Now this motor could work but clearly I need some assistance in reducing the speed and incorporating a chain drive ... Similar to the YouTube video I posted earlier in this thread.

You could build a rod with a sprocket on it that goes into the motor then a larger sprocket on the main rotisserie which should slow the thing down to where you need it and make it no longer a direct drive.

Why would you not run it of a Mitsubishi 110 VFD
Y’all making this all crazy complicated.

What I suggested wasn’t meant to be complicated. I’m sure there are much better ways than what I said just offering a way to adapt.

@Bigdaddy4760 - my apologies.. this is obviously all new to me.. I want to learn new things.. I just need to be pointed in the right direction.

I do not want a direct drive motor set up.. the previous owner had nothing but trouble with it. From my research I need to be at 2 RPM. Also, form my research a chain drive with a tensioner to release it when it's time to remove rotisserie (either when the whole hog is done or when wanting to use a grate instead of the rotisserie) I have access to a couple of free furnace fan motors but obviously the 4650 RPM on those needs altered. Form my quick google search of the Mitsubishi 110 VFD it seems this is some sort of controller that can slow a motor down? Obviously I need to do more research on that later. Please keep in mind this is something that will have to sit outside all year round. That includes sub zero temps in the winter and heat indexes in the 100s in the summer. Housing electronics like that might not be the best choice for me.

I do not have an unlimited budget, but want to design something that's functional and reliable.

I feel like I can make this a pellet burner using two pellet systems and not the super expensive ones I posted about earlier. (more on that later)

I can use all the advice you're willing to share but also understand that I don't have a welder yet or welding skills yet, limited knowledge on gears and gear reduction. Like I mentioned already.. I am willing to learn just about anything... but it does help with some direction. Heck.. maybe somewhere down the road someone else reads this and can learn from it during their own build.

No apologies needed. I have a gearbox in the shop and will look at it and send info. It’s really easy with a gearbox / motor. Can use lovejoy coupling from output shaft to rotisserie shaft. VFD can control rpm’s.

Went back and looked at rotisserie shaft. No matter what You decide to install the way it’s set up now you are going to have issues wit shaft deflection causing mis-alignment at coupling.
