New member here. I joined just for this thread. My Kimbo delivery has been pushed back to Nov, 11. I recently bought a 2020 Tundra Limited Double Cab and am looking forward to the adventures with the Kimbo and hearing your experiences, tips, tricks and sharing mine as well.

Nice, will you have to do much to beef up the suspension with a Tundra? The Tacos need to upgrade to air bag suspension as a minimum.

Awesome! Stoked for you. I finally got my first in person tour a few weeks ago. I had had high expectations and this camper met them all and then some. Standing up inside is just perfect and the build quality is on point. Happy you’re enjoying yours!

Oh cool, I'm glad you got a tour to get a idea of the space inside. We've definitely gotten lots of questions, and people asking about it.

Looks good on your truck! What kind of suspension upgrades did you do for the weight?

What’s up guys, my names Seth, I’m new to the thread. I’ve got a 3rd gen Tacoma with a Kimbo Camper on the back. I picked it up in March of 20’ and have done some minor and major upgrades to both the interior for comfort, exterior with a diesel tank for a diesel heater, as well as airbags for the rear-end and some creature comforts to make daily living in the camper possible. I live in the camper full time in CO and have learned to adjust to major temp changes, moisture, and rough forest roads that lead to campsites for the night. We (my dog and I) were snowed on last night in Summit County and stayed plenty dry and with a fire going, warm also.

Anywho, I’m lookin forward to the evolution of this thread and hope that it brings some understanding and growth to the Kimbo camper life. I’m excited to be apart of it all and if anyone has a question about anything big or small, please feel free to ask. I’ll post some picture of projects also. Cheers guys and gals,

    Seth and Hoji

Hi Seth, welcome to TW and congratulations on your camper! Thanks for posting the modifications that you have already done, sounds like you are getting it dialed in really well!

Thanks for joining. It's always fun to hear from other Kimbo owners. We are in Bend now, but lived in Boulder for several years. I saw they got a early snow :)

Looks great! I love the personal touches and things you've added to make it your own! I notice you have the jack stands on in one picture and off in another. I have mixed feelings about the stands. On one hand, I think they compliment the space age aesthetic, kind of like the landing gear of the lunar lander. But on the other hand, the kimbo still looks great without them and you gain extra payload by removing them. And of course it makes sense to remove them if your not planning to take the camper off for awhile. I think overall I prefer the look of the truck/camper combo as one unit without the jack stands. Thanks for the pics!

Welcome to TW Seth! Great to hear from someone who is living full time in a kimbo, as I personally would like to do someday. That said, I do have a few questions. You mention temp changes and moisture, What are some things you do to combat moisture and/or condensation? Also, what kind of solar set-up are you running? And finally, has gas mileage been a major factor in your day to day operations? Thanks again!

Morning everyone. Thought I add this to the thread since it was on my Kimbo shopping list. It’s utilized in a lot of van builds and you can customize the table size. I bought an additional mount for the bed area. It’s cheaper at the site below than the manufacturer’s website.

As far as moisture control, having the wood burning stove option will take moisture out of the air while the propane will not. Also, getting a diesel heater will take moisture out too. I believe the wood burning stove may only last up to an hour depending on the wood. So if you live somewhere dry or you are not planing on camping in the snow, the propane heater will probably do the trick. The link has some good info. Although their winter tire choice is an all terrain... :anonymous:
