I have had excellent results with the Dometic fridge as far as energy consumption and holding temperature in the Kimbo.....I think it was a good call for Kimbo to change. As far as warranty goes, I had a leaking issue with the sink (Whale) hand pump and with no questions asked, they sent out a new unit the same day. I would be carefull that it doesn't freeze as it is just plastic parts. At my house in Bend OR, it freezes every night (15-20 degs) so I have just been removing the Riverflow battery and keeping it in the house unless I have a trip just to be conservative. It does have a little light that comes on (with a snowflake) if it is below freezing. The Riverflow I think was a great upgrade as we can go an easy 4-5 days with minimal or no charging with the double battery pack......

I'd bet that's condensation (moisture inside condensing and freezing behind the insulation and then melting)...from what I've seen when we were fiddling with fans/vents/heat in order to minimize the moisture levels inside.

Please let us know what your test results conclude
    -thanks!

Pressure test went well, zero leaks! The condensation was probably from my wet gear along my trip and it keeps freezing and unfreezing. Solution is to run the humidifier for a couple of days to get all the Moister out from the bottom of the cabin.

internet re-installation went well also. I ton of work so super grateful that they sent Cole out to make the trip. I went with the Winegard 4GTE internet setup. I tested the speeds at my apartment complex VS my phone and it was pretty slow(25 upload/ 9 download…phone was 65 upload / 8 download). I’ll run another speed test and provide speeds next time I’m out and about. As of right now, I’d recommend the wii boost over the Winegard.

Has anyone attempted to clean the suede like material in the Kimbo? If so, what cleaning product did you use?

A small hand brush/broom works great for the dry stuff (lint/dirt/sawdust/tree needles) but have not stained the material where it needed to be "cleaned".

If you missed my earlier post, do NOT use a vacuum on it or it will pull the fabric off the insulation.

Can anyone tell me if the jack stands on a Kimbo are short enough to fit inside the cab of a Tacoma? I would like the option of carrying them with me but not having to live with how they stick out when mounted.

Has anyone put a high output alternator in a Tacoma? I’d like to be able to charge a high capacity solar generator while on the move and I can’t imagine that the 100w in the bed will be much help.

I do not have any experience with the HO alternator but I have a corresponded with GoalZero and they said that it's fine to charge with the bed outlet - and I can confirm that it keeps it topped off, but I have not attempted to charge the battery from a low battery level yet.

Yeah, I've seen this mod...but remember what mom always said "can't squeeze blood out of a turnip"

Toyota bumped the wattage of this down for a reason, wouldn't be comfortable depending on this mod long term - but that's just me.

Here is a good build thread with a battery isolator/fuses/wire guide/etc...

yea I’m looking for a cleaner for it (have water marks from the moisture). I’ll figure it out and follow up once I get an answer. It’s only a matter of time before someone else gets theirs dirty in some way!

Made the mistake of leaving a large 5 gallon water canister on the seat and then drove off….about 1.5 gallons spilled on the floor. Lesson learned, got a 15X15 cargo net for $6 on Amazon. That’s a square 7 gallon tank that fits perfectly / still allows for jackets to be hung

update: everyone needs these wipes! I picked these up from home depot because it says they clean basically everything and this is true lol. I used it to get industrial glue off my tailgate and it also says it’s good for “car interiors” which is what the material is in the Kimbo. Removed the water stains instantly!

For all you owners of a Kimbo. Im curious on your past experiences and trying to understand timelines at the factory. If I have a completion date set, any idea how long past that date my pick up date would be? Just got word my completion date is April 4th and trying to understand what that means.

    Stoked!

Hey @WY_4x4, my pickup date was about two 1/2 weeks after the completion date but it was around the Holidays so kimbo wasn’t fully staffed. From my understanding, They run a series of tests before pick up date which is the reason for the delay.

Hey WY_4x4....my pickup date was 4 days after completion....they need time to clean it up, run a 24 hour cooling report on the Dometic fridge (which they run a copy of for you) and test out everything to their satisfaction (battery pack, hand pump, fan etc.).....they they move it into the staging/pickup building next to the production line. Pickup time for me took no more than 2 hours which included training on components, a plant tour and load up....make sure you bring your tire pressure up before assuming you are running E rated tires....I run 45-50 psi or so.....I bet you are excited!........

I imagine that production ebbs and flows - WY-4x4. you're serial number is #200 correct? my serial number is #247 and my completion date is May 6th, roughly a month after yours - that's an impressive rate of production! Did your completion date change at all or was it always April 4?

At this rate (with a 7mo lead time), they likely have sold up into the 400's already...

Interesting that you say #247 will be ready May 6...My #211 was supposed to be ready May 4. That is super old news (last fall) so if they are accelerating their timeline, they aren't informing everyone!
