There is a supplied bracket that extends the lower mount plus the ride quality is where it really shines. Definitely not overkill but i guess it's not everyone's cup of tea. Well worth the money if I noticed a huge improvement going from a Fox 2.5 resi with DSC.

Your ride quality difference is due to going from a smooth body to a bypass. It has nothing to do with the size. You would have noticed that if you went to a 2.5 bypass as well. It’s due to the ride zone allowing fluid to bypass the shock valving.

The 3.0 just allows you to have additional fluid capacity and a larger piston/valving surface which is not necessarily needed for a Tacoma’s weight. Especially if you’re not running short corse or trying to get air.

I’m also assuming you never got your 2.5 DSC properly valved?

True but king doesn't offer a bolt on 2.5 bypass for a tacoma. And I never got a custom valve on teh DSC.

    Was thinking the same

Don’t need 3.0 front shocks for running flat dunes

I don’t think anyone offers a bolt on bypass for a Taco. From the looks of the pics, the 3.0 isn’t an OE application either. They used a stem to eyelet conversion mount.

I’d argue that you don’t need a 3.0 on a Tacoma for any application. That’s a big shock.

Icon is also going to come out with a 3.0 front and rear setup. I won't reach the capacity of the 3.0 but I also want to build the truck with parts not many have. It is going to be a show truck for Falken.

Seems like a waste to do all this work but not add the hoop or other shock relocation to get more travel.

They look so beefy and hurt my wallet lol I would feel worst if they rode worst
Some will also say I should have bought an offroad instead of a Pro because I already swapped out the stock Fox's. Not much work really its bolt on, it is still way more money going shock relocation.
