    Ahoy there TacomaWorld

Quick question about King front coil over installation.

Trying to figure out the pre-load and where to set the adjustment collar.

I have been reading the threads and web sites and at this point my head is spinning. It could be the roofie colada but never blame the drink.

I know there is no right answer as every car is unique but just trying to figure out a rule of thumb on where to have them set to achieve the standard 3 inch lift on the front.

last thing I wanna do is set them at zero lift and then have to adjust them while they’re on the vehicle. it’s like trying to finger bang a porcupine.

On the front I currently have Bilsteins and All Pro Off Road UCA’s. I’m upgrading to King shocks.

I purchased the shocks with 600 pound springs and after reviewing with AP Off Road with all the weight I have on the vehicle I purchased 700 pounds Springs.

The 14 inch springs are compressed and measure 12 inches on the coil over when they are uninstalled which means they have 2 inches of preload.

I’m trying to figure out,,out of the box are King shocks supposed to be zero lift or set to the standard 3 inches of lift.

I know this 700 pounds spring will have a little bit more push but not sure how low to set the adjusting collar.

Thanking you in advance for the intel.

Your dedication to the revolution will be duly noted.

I’d start at an inch of threads showing and go from there.

My understanding is my Kings were set at 2” lift from King. I added 5 turns driver, 4 turns passenger. Ball park that’s 5 threads per inch of lift. I should now be at 3”. :fingerscrossed: Got 600 lb springs, expecting some sag. Still haven’t installed them. Maybe in the next 2-3 weeks.

    Beauty Shots.

    Thank you

I thought out of the box they were set to lift above stock but could not find any confirmation.

in reviewing all the forms that talk about pre-load of springs I could not find what pre load equals what lift (and I know every car is going to be completely different) Just want to get as close as I can so I don’t have to dig in there and adjust for hours later.

I believe it’s about a 3:1 ratio, for example 1” of thread is 3” of lift. Of course a lot depends on the weight of your truck.
