Mandatory evacuations for our area was downgraded to voluntary, and our voluntary evacuation order was lifted. Yay!

Are they evacuating and closing down the Crystal Basin area? If so, then access to the Loon Lake and Wentworth trail heads to the Rubicon might be down for a while.

Yes, that whole area was evacuated yesterday. They were having spot fires on the north side of Big Hill Lookout (between Union Valley and Icehouse. The northern edge was just about at Stumpy Meadows (that got evacuated too). While there were no evacs called for Loon Lake, there's no safe way in or out of it.

The fire is at 110^2miles now or 70k acres. That's a huge jump in size. A friend of mine's son is working on it and says it's just raging.

I just arrived at a friends cabin in Kingvale, north of 80 and it is really smokey up here. Ash all over the ground. I just saw the 111 sq acre number this morning and read that it is only 5% contained. Some of our smoke could be from the smaller Dog Bar fire, but I dont really think so. I feel sorry for all those that are closer and in danger.

Been getting super smokey down here in Reno/Sparks. Crazy how large the fire got in the last 24hrs, hopefully the wind lets up and they make some headway at containment!

I'm beyond disappointed that someone would even consider doing that.

Fire is a normal process; it doesn't need help from some asshat.

Maybe his punishment should include work on a fire crew?
