Deaver can also build custom packs. You can take ur stock leafs off send them in and tell them what lift you want, type of ride, and how much weight you will want to carry on the daily/pull. They rebend, add leafs, shot peen everything, paint and send them back. I have a set of custom on my truck and kings in the rear (I did a shock relocate) and have a decent amount of weight (high rise camper shell, sleeping platform, tools) in the back and then a swingout with spare and 7 gallons of gas and have no sag and it rides like a dream

Wel I already purchased and installed the j59's, but good to know. I also did end up getting the 2.5 king OEM rear shocks and yea they're pretty short. With the new springs they max out easily with no weight in the back, get that annoying jarring like others have said but was convinced by Ben from Filthy moto that said "we've sold that combo many times with great results". I put some bricks back there trying to break'em in, helps for now. We'll see, maybe gotta do that shock relocation and longer shocks

    Oof

This is what I mentioned 3 times in this thread alone, not to mention you acknowledging it each time in here as well.

Get them off right away and put some Bilstein 5100s as a temporary solution and sell your Kings.

    That or get them customized.

They're the only 2.5 shock I can get in the back in the stock mounting location, besides custom ordering a shock which involves taking apart the leaf pack, cycling the suspension, precise measurements, etc. I had billstein 5100's on there before, they're only a 2.0 shock and will not provide the same dampening as a 2.5 w/reservoir. Plus king shocks are arguably the best. The shocks do handle amazing on a recent desert trip with some weight in the back. Only going over bigger hits where the wheels extend out get that jarring occasionally.

Right now my deaver's are ~1.5" higher than they're supposed to be, and I'm still breaking them in. I do notice I'm getting better flex than the dakars I had on there. I wouldn't recommend the dakars to anyone unless maybe several hundred pounds of gear was always in the bed. The deavers have a truly progressive rate design without any of those short flat overload springs like on dakars that will really snap the suspension back down while offroading, which would have been worse with the king shocks.

I would be real careful because those brand new expensive Kings are getting over extended when you feel that jarring and your likely going to damage them if it goes on for too long. Like @Kwikvette mentioned, those Kings aren't meant for rear ends with lift... Maybe 1" lift at the most. I don't think a shock relocation in order to fit a shorter shock is ideal...Usually you do that to fit a longer shock. Either you're going to have to lower your rear lift to 1" or you'll have to custom order Kings to fit. Unfortunately they're aren't many options out of the box for our trucks.

    Good to see you back!

Few things here; there are no out of the box 2.5 shocks available for our trucks with the exception of your Kings.

You can however, get custom 2.5 shocks from a variety of companies.

Now going back to your statement about not wanting to take apart your leaf pack and cycling your setup; that's exactly what you want to do to ensure the shock you order is optimal for your setup.

By going against the advice suggested here, you are at risk of ruining your expensive King shocks. You're going to learn an expensive lesson out of sheer negligence and we are trying to prevent that. No one said "don't get Kings"...we know they're some of the best for our trucks. We just said "don't get oem length shocks with a lift"

We've been repeating this before, and now after, your purchase.

Hope you don't over extend them, but if you do, let me know and I'll be happy to buy them off you.

Thanks, yea that goes back to the original point is that there are limited shock options for the stock mounting points. I wasn't thinking of doing the shock relocation with the same shock. For now it's working with weight in the back to help break in the springs, and have the rear end sit down a little. It definitely soaks up most of the hits on the trail though quite nicely. I'll see after a couple thousand miles how things are looking.
