Here's my $.02, I have spent quite a bit of time configuring the front end on these trucks, you are going to be limited by the UCA uniball bolt hitting the arm cup on droop, and the collapsed shock length on compression. I run Dirt King stock length uppers and lowers and King ETs, here is what my insides look like, the .25" spacer, different arms might bind at a different spot. The I cracked this top out bumper and then switched to the one like in your first pic, for some reason mine were mismatched and I had one of each.

There is potential for additional uptravel if you get a shorter collapsed length like @12TRDTacoma, I haven't spent the time trying to setup a shorter body shock but I have faith it would net you a bit before you run into CV and tierod binding issues.

Awesome! This is the kind of info I was looking for! I knew there was some of you out there that had played with this.

... Did you make sure you asked papa Fox and momma King permission before you went and modified their shocks? :rimshot:

I wish I would've done more homework before buying this used set. it was a good deal, but I probably would've gone the 2.5x6 route had I come across that first. These OEM Coilovers certainly forfeit a little up travel.

Is this on OEM Coilovers? Or catalog Coilovers?

Really the best thing you could do is get you uppers and lower installed, the cycle it without a shock to find your limits and then pick/build a shock that fits that travel range.

That said, the OEM ET shocks are going to be pretty damn close to wherever that ends up as the shock manufacturers have done their research when designing and spec'ing them. Good luck and interested to see where this lands.

Yea, I wish I could've had the freedom to do that. Unfortunately, this is also my daily driver. So I couldn't keep it out of commission that long.

*wasn't going to do lowers*:anonymous:... But we will see. I will probably have to...

If you don't have an aftermarket LCA than this whole conversation is moot. The OEM rubber bushings will be the limit to the useful travel of the front suspension.

Thanks, man! I'm working on a new upper mount to move the whole suspension up 0.5"-1" relative to the king billet mount (0.5" specifically might not be possible as this would put the bolt right inside the coil bucket hole making assembly difficult or impossible)

If you don't have polyurethane LCA bushings*

Although not ideal, the poly Whiteline bushings in stock LCA's articulate quite well.

Hit up @81Trekker for the shock mount part of his LT kit. It will stuff the top of a king shock as far into the coil bucket as possible (the bolt is removeable above the coil bucket).

Or cut the whole thing off and built your own shock tower off the frame as part of an engine cage.

OOF :facepalm:duh. I was picturing the rubber boot on the BJ.

I hit him up already, he had only got enough cut out for his LT orders, and it looks like I wasn't the only one over in his thread that requested them. He said it might not be till Feb before some were available for individual sale. I wish I could afford his kit right now. That setup is gold.

I hadn't heard from him on lead times, but I plan to get on the list for a couple sets when the next run is ordered.

It wasn't so much of a solid lead time, maybe I shouldn't have repeated that. I read it as 'don't hold your breath, I'm busy over here and selling individual pairs of upper shock mounts is not high on the list, hit me up around feb'

Yeah, I wouldn't expect that to be a hard timeline. But he's very good people to work with.
