If you havent already, do just that, your ride will soften up, and when you get your bumper on you can adjust it for that. Dont buy new tires till you adjust your preload.

I hit a huge piece of tumbleweed going 70MPH+ on the freeway a few weeks back. Hit it right at the corner of the bumper on the driver's side and it basically scraped the entire length of the driver's side. I was so pissed. It was dark when I got home and so I just went to bed. Checked it the next day, and man did the ceramic coating hold up lol. Maaaaaybe one faint scratch on the front fender nothing else.

it usually takes about 1000 miles for springs to settle, this is normal.

I think they meant compression adjusters.

Once I add the bumper I'm definitely getting the alignment done. I have a life time at Firestone! Thanks for the info.

I’m having a similar issue. Mine feel as they are riding a bit stiff, I had one of them rebuilt a few months ago, because one of the reservoirs had been knocked loose and an air pocket developed inside. However now they feel stiff again, and I’m not sure what the issue is. I tried to lessen the pre-load on each one as I have about 10 threads exposed, but the collar on one side is seized so I’ll have to find a way to loosen that before I can figure out if pre-load is the issue here, any suggestions on any of my issues? I have the King 2.5s as well

The pinch bolt is seized or the spring seat won't rotate on the shock body? What tires and pressure? Any pic of the LCA angle while level?

The pinch bolt isn’t tightening or loosening the spring seat won’t rotate at all. I’ll get a picture of the LCA angle when it’s light out. I’m running Nitto Trail Grapplers at about 36-37psi currently

Well the pinch bolt needs to come loose first before you can rotate the seat. Trying to rotate the seat with the pinch bolt tight will damage things. It sounds like the ride quality changed since new/rebuild, is that correct?

If the pinch bolt is stuck to the point where the proper wrench is damaging the head you can try heating the spring seat in the area of the pinch bolt threads(try to avoid heating the bolt directly) and/or using a quality penetrating fluid like AeroKroil or PB Blaster. WD40/liquidwrench is better than nothing but not as good as the others.

It’s almost as if the bolt was backed off and no longer engages the collar, I can only get about 1 full turn before it won’t tighten anymore, which leads me to believe the collar is sitting in between threads, I hope not! I’m going to try some WD40 today or perhaps brake cleaner and see. The ride quality has changed since rebuild/install, I’m think it’s just the suspension settling and the preload I have being too much, or the tires, but I still want to fix the issue of the collar so that I can raise and lower the front.

The pinch bolt should only ever be loosened 1 turn or less while the springs are installed to avoid the spring seat/collar from jumping threads or damaging threads. If you need to pull the bolt out further you should lift the vehicle, compress the spring with a compressor (or remove the shock from the vehicle and compress the spring on a bench) before removing the pinch bolt more than 1 turn.

E-load rated tires will def make for a harsh ride.

Like others have said, preload. You have like 15 or 20 threads showing up there man! We want that number at like 5 to 10 max. Like 1/2 - 3/4 inches of thread. You’re compressing the he’ll out of that spring and any kind of compression and that tire is gonna shoot back down to the ground so fast it’s gonna make your truck hop. Best way I can describe it. Loosen that blue ring by having up the truck, turn it counter clockwise towards the cap of that strut tower and don’t stop until can only see 5 threads up there. It’s gonna bring your front end down about an inch but you won’t hardly notice on the outside and your ride will be so much smoother and nicer. Trust me it’s worth it. You can always try and air down the front to about 25psi in the meantime no big deal. Good luck brother.
