Approximately after 15,000 miles post lift, I am currently at 25" in the front measured from the center of the hub to the top of the fender and 26" in the rear.

My understanding is about 100 psi Nitrogen in the front at full extension is optimal.
Spanner nut is currently at 2.5" of thread showing.

I am curious what I can adjust the front for 1/2" lift before it messes with the coil spring rate?
Also, at what point will I need to adjust Nitro psi level?

"Taco Lean" does not appear to be an issue so far...

    Thanks!

The coil spring rate will not be affected by adding preload. Assuming you're running 600 lb coils, each inch of additional compression is 600 lbs of force, regardless of how much compression it's currently under... assuming you don't compress the coil past it's elastic limit (you won't).

If you want to add 1/2" of lift, turn the collar to expose about 1/4" of additional threads. The only risk you run with too much compression of the coil is "coil bind" where the coils of the spring touch, when you compress the suspension. If you end up with coil bind, you'll need to step up to the next weight coil, ie 650 lbs. You would then need to back off the preload, as you've increased the spring rate and it won't take as much compression to achieve your lift.

@AccuTune Offroad has some great tech articles under their vendor sub forum that you should look into... they've done a great job breaking down the science behind lifts, spring rates, and shock valving.

Are you sure your hub to fender distance is 25” in front? Stock height is 21-21.5” with about 3” of down travel. Extended length king shocks add about 1” down travel. So that would put you at 4” of lift with 0 to -1” of down travel and we know -1 is impossible.

Also make sure you are not at risk of coil bind. 2.5” of preload is a lot; possibly too much.

Adding preload/lift, sacrifices down travel/sag. I would adjust to the desired ride/feel. The more preload you give it, the worse it will ride. 2.5 inches is quite a bit. I believe the nitrogen number is 125 psi on the coil overs. I can double check that. Not sure you want to mess with the nitro charge too much but adding pressure will make it a bit more progressive.

Preload does not decrease ride quality.

But does increase likelihood of coil bind.

Chances are, you'll run out of IFS travel, before you run into coil bind. Unless your truck is VERY heavy.

If you can, measure from the top hat of the front shock to the lower bolt center while the truck is sitting on level grade. This measurement should not exceed 21", if you want to maintain travel and ride characteristics. If it's over 21", you may want to consider less preload.

Also, what spring rate are you running (should say on the side of the coil). Measure the length of the coil while the truck is sitting on level ground.

Only if you exceed the limits of your setup.

Sorry, My experience with the same suspension says otherwise. Maybe in concept your correct….but then your just trolling. Cheers!

Also accutune may suggest 150 but when I called king they told me 125psi. Contrary to opinion you can adjust resi pressures but if run too high or low you run the risk of damaging the damper.

I’ve been working with high end suspension for 20 years just in the two wheeler area. Trucks are no different (actually truck suspension was much simpler until the last couple of years).

Let me be more precise. Preload does not increase the spring rate and thus does not make the suspension stiffer. However it can effect ride quality in other ways. It increases the ride height and thus reduces the amount of down travel and this can affect ride quality especially if taken to extremes. It also changes the force that suspension exerts on the ground at full droop and this can cause subtle differences in ride quality. Do you agree with this?

FYI, OP, my front measurements are 22/22.5 on the ground and 25/25.5 off the ground with my king extended length shocks.

Is this fender to hub measurements or top to bottom bolt of coilover?
