Everything sticks to Fluid Film but the stuff works. I just fluid filmed my frame and everything else again today after doing it a year ago. I even sprayed it on all the hinges and door latches. The inside of the frame still had a good layer of Fluid Film on it after a year even after I pressure washed the inside of the frame twice to prepare it for another coating. I sprayed Fluid Film on everything under the truck. My opinion is that a good coating of that stuff every year works well for those of us living in the north where the winters are harsh. It "creeps" too. I noticed that after my first application of Fluid Film it was "creeping" out of the inside of the frame to the outside. Even after repeated high pressure washing. That is what you want. A film that penetrates into everything including the places where corrosion/rust starts that you can't see.

I'm not ready just yet to buy them but my Taco is seriously in need of a better suspension and I will go with ICONS when the time comes. After reading this entire thread I came away with the same decision you have made.

    Added the Icon sleeves though.

This was the INTERIOR of my Icons..

    6 years... 60k miles

Should have done the rebuild much earlier. This was a really costly lesson!!!

Lol did the oil just break down at that point and had a leak to allow for rust?

I think the rods got badly scratched as there was no frontal protection at all. Rocks, sand, road salt...

Then they likely leaked and stuff got in.

No wonder they were handling like crap in the end hehe

Haha yea, ill say. My second guess was going to be that, all the oil leaked out, moisture got in and rusted it all to shit. Or maybe hot shocks+water crossing or something

@tcBob is there a way to attach a survey to this thread even though the thread has already been created? There's over 500 responses to this thread and I would like to know how people voted

We could but it wouldn't tally all the existing responses...you would just a get a sampling of whoever happens to vote after the fact.

That would be better than nothing I suppose. It seems like enough people look at this thread that we could probably get an accurate amount pretty soon here. Especially considering how many people are probably subscribed to this thread

Care to wage your opinion on ride quality between the two (prior to the Icons being shot)? Were the Icons an Fox FS's standard "out of the box" valving and same spring rate?

Yes Icons were extended travel but doesn't matter for street use.

I find the Foxa little harsher but the weather is quite cold (35F) so it's normal. Both are quite similar.

The Icons had digressive valving, and your new Fox coilovers are progressive... You feel like they ride similar? Even after the Fox coilovers warm up?

Are you sure they are progressive? The shop that sold told me they were disgressive.
