    Hi everyone,
stupid question from a rather new TRD Offroad owner, I hope you don't mind it in this context.
How much is the default "lift" of a 2016 TRD Offroad?
And how would the lift and also the distance hub to fender increase, if I put a 2.75 or 3" coilover package from King/icon/fox on the truck?
    Thanks...

Lift? There is no 'lift' from the factory. Unless you mean its lifted about a foot off of the ground by the suspension and tires. Any lift package you put on will lift your truck the measurement described over the factory look.

    Thanks Matt,
But wouldn't a Sr5 have a different distance between hub and chassis vs a TRD Sport vs a TRD Offroad already?
Therefore the net impact on a SR5 would be bigger than on the TRD models?

Who's matt? ohhhhhhhh, that's from SNL lol.

Possibly yes, but you're comparing apples to oranges right there, as an SR5 typically has a completely different suspension and tire set up, so they are going to sit lower that the TRD's are. So put it this way, SR5/TRD OR/TRD Sport, however high they are from the factory, a 3" lift kit from King will lift it up 3" from whatever it is from the factory.

Except Turd gens sit 1" higher in the shock travel than second gens, yet have the same pivots and mount points. Doing a 3" lift on a 2016 would be equal to 4" on a second gen. Who needs downtravel anyway.

Didn't know that. Then again, I do not know a damn thing about Third gens, or really care for that matter.

    I'll take this up haha.

I believe most street car coilovers are digressive right? In which case that is what I am used to, but I'm racking my brain what my truck's use case is for valving type.

What I've read so far, the Icons ride very smooth and that is what I want, very badly. But at slow speeds it sounds like the other brands would be smoother, and they get stiff you when need it- ie: took it a little too fast and caught some air. For off-roading progressive sounds like the choice to make, digressive sounds like just begging to bottom out all of the time.

Ultimately I'm not tying to go fast, I'm looking to have better ride quality than what I have now* cruising around the local off road park.
(* what I have now is 5100 front with 881s, wheelers progressive AAL and 5125s rear- and I want smoother-- maybe my bushings are wrecked but its still a jarring ride compared to friend's newer 4x4s).

Icon can also re-valve them with what they call "slow speed valving". It is my understanding that this will be more cushy at slower valve speeds. But you might want to call them, or ask one of the experts on here.

^^ Thanks for the info. Really racking my brain on what my real use-case is vs. what seems cool. Trying to read all the reviews and comparisons as I can.

Hopefully I can make it out to a local wheeling meet that has a few rigs with the different brands on them and get some rides for comparisons sake. In my sport compact car days I've learned online reviews can be way way off and there is nothing like going to a meet and seeing, hearing and riding in the various setups to get the best data.

Lastly, having a heck of a time figuring out where my NVH is coming from. I think my 881/5100 setup is very close to what I want in compliance, and the NVH I'm getting is not really stemming from that combo, but something else in the suspension- as if I have chewed up and wrecked bushings in the lower control arm or somewhere else (200K miles). I already changed the UCAs to Camburgs and put ES bushings in the steering rack. Need to get this thing on a rack, get a crowbar and try to see what the bushing deflection looks like. As soft as my spring/shock combo is, when I off-road it feels like what those WWII bomber movies look like when they fly through flak, vs riding in an FJ or newer truck I feel like I could listen to classical music and sip on an espresso, floating down the trail on a cloud haha. Could cab mount bushings degrade this badly as well?
