    I haven't found any details about this, but are long travel kings different then extended travel kings? I'm just wondering what is physically different. Besides valviing maybe, but that just seems dependent on application.

    Uh, pretty big difference. Extended travel kings are just OEM kings with an internal spacer removed. Stroke is about 5-7" I wanna say, off the top of my head, whereas Long travel Kings are 8" or more. You can NOT put Long Travel King shocks on an OEM truck with stock length control arms.

    So if I got the OEM replacement Kings, and eventually wanted to add UCAs, I could have the internal spacer removed and have a MT set up?

    Yes. You would pretty much have an MT set up with or without extended travel. Everyone's definition is different. I figure UCA's and Shocks make a pretty good setup for MT, but you can go so much farther and still retain alot of OEM specs while gaining flex and a hair more of travel.

    I'm not an expert on the matter, but I guessing yes you can, but once it's all said and done, you'd probably be better off just selling the extended travel stuff and putting that cahs towards LT shocks

    Right on. Thanks man!. Just looking into future upgrades. Hell the kings will probably need rebuilding by that time. I need lockers and gears next though.

    Not realy, real LT has a longer piston and longer body to go with it.

    Sell the extended travel MT setup and buy an LT set up.

    I'd say the rear is alot easier, certainly simpler. Installing extended lenght brake lines is a pain, never had trouble getting the center pin on the pack aligned. Like someone else said, jackstands under the frame, and use the floor jack to control the axle, one end at a time.

    Pretty much this. I didn't have that much of an issue. A extra hand is good to have but you can do it yourself as long as you take your time and don't short cut things. Don't drop the rear end off the jack like I did :laugh: :anonymous:

    As I said, anything is possible, but is it worth it? Probably not. Some people seem to think they can budget build LT by swapping those parts out to make an LT shocks, which if you're doing it all yourself, then maybe it is, but paying someone for parts and labor to do that? You'd be much better off just to buy new.

    TC 3.5 LT, RCV axles, Demello sliders, BD light bar/fogs, LP6, DMZ rear, SOS skids, custom bumper, King 16" triples, Locked-on hydro rear bumps...
    As others have said, its probably possible but at what risk and cost is unknown and probably not worth it. I just made the jump to LT this weekend. I recommend just saving up for a kit in pieces. Its good to have some capitol after LT by selling your old stuff anyway.

    Nope, but you can swap all the OEM length parts to LT parts. I won't name names but I know some people that said they're gonna do that when they finally get LT. I'm not defending that by any means, I think its retarded, but I'm not gonna tell someone it can't be done

    What size tires are you running and how much preload did you put on them. Got mine sitting in the garage waiting to install this weekend and not sure how much preload ill need to clear my 285/75

    I know you didn't ask me but, an inch to 1 1/4" of threads should be about perfect with 600# springs. It's going to settle some. I actually ran an extra 1/4" on the drivers side for the lean,still leaned. I ended up putting a 650# spring on the drivers side and run the same preload on both. Drives a lot better and handles a lot better,even without the swaybar. And the best part,no lean!
