Hey guys I'm stuck on deciding on what to do on my build. I've been thinking on doing a mid travel set up or lonf travel. I like doing long distance travel runs with camping and exploring. I live in the desert. I'm kinda going for that prelander style.
full mid travel on Icon set up with the 2.5 coilover with resi. and bypasses up front and the omega rear shocks and the RXT leaf pack
or just save up and do Long Travel kings with spring under kit.

Icon customer service SUCKS. Thinking I am exaggerating will be your downfall. Also Kings are tried and true, been doing this for years while Icon has just recently joined the game

Mid Travel and Long Travel are very different, mostly in cost. Usually it boils down to cost vs realistic needs. We have worked both and they can both work really well if tuned and setup correctly. Is your truck 4WD? With the weight/overlanding gear you plan to add, will you be charging hard off-road, or merely exploring?

A good King or Fox mid travel kit can run you anywhere from $4300-$6,000. Long Travel can easily be double that, plus fiberglass fenders etc.

I’d love to know what kind of issues you have had with Icon, because I and everyone I personally know that runs them have had nothing but amazing experiences with them. Anything from being quick to answer a tech question to fast and easy replacement parts and servicing to warranty support on broken parts. I’ve been running them on my Tacoma and Jeep JK for years and would never consider a different brand.

Those people led me on a wild goose chase. Ordered a simple set of adjustable 2.5s from them and after 6 months I cancelled my order. They kept lying to me, telling me they had shipped, then the next week they said they would be ready to ship the next day. Absolute BS. The fact they literally couldn’t even tell me the truth. Then when I demanded a refund because a product had never been delivered to me, they tried to tell me no because it had “shipped yesterday”. Absolute worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Tbh I didn’t realize businesses could be so shitty and still operable.

My Truck is 2wd and I'm going for that I guess people call it Prelander. The money isn't the problem. I know long Travel is going to cost more as of parts install and custom fab etc. I'm taking my time on the build because I want to do it right the first time. To me suspension is one of the hardest choice. I'm planning on putting a SDHQ chase rack.

Right on, being a 2wd will help a little with cost. Front LT kit is pretty simple actually, with minor welding. The rear kit would require more fab work. That chase rack is nice, are you interested in having rear shocks go through the bed?

I own Kings and love them a lot A+ shocks. Kings, Icons and Fox shocks will run you a lot more than any other average shock due to the fact that their specially made for the dirt and not so much for the road. Also the valving is digressive in Icons vs Kings which are progressive. There all good but it will come down to personal preference in the end.

They're designed to be rebuilt and tuned for the ultimate comfort for both on and off-road driving. Valving and spring rates also play a big role when adding a lot of weight & accessories.

Agreed on the rebuilding and capability of re valving and spring rates for weighted bumpers, tow hitches etc. But for smooth driving idk about, on dirt or bumpy roads it’s a old Cadillac but on the fwy/road it’s a ordinary shock not at its peak performance at all. Not seeking a argument or disagreeing just personal opinion.

Ever notice that every offroad race vehicle ever is Fox or King (and ADS in some cases) and not Icon? There's probably a reason for that.

Seen many a post about leaking ICON shocks, etc.

Icon has sponsored drivers in ultra4, not sure what you’re getting at here.

No argument, and hopefully not going too sideways from the original post. What you described is what we focus on with each and every customer. There are ways to make these shocks ride great on the highway or off-road. Spring rates, valving, mid speed adjusters, dual speed adjusters, bypass shocks etc... lots of options. (sorry to interrupt the thread)

I know someone who just got the run around from ADS for weeks on their custom order, who you feel better if they made a thread on TW about it?
