Knife-wise no automatics (button openers) or anything with a spring assisted open using a thumb stud.

The recent rule change has really clamped down on that. Before you could have spring assist openers as long as the spring was assisting in the regular motion of opening (like using your thumb to flip up the stud) anything that wasn't in the same axis (such as pressing a button to open a switchblade) was illegal.

Now they are getting even more strict. Anything one handed is suspect. Tighten the pivot down so you can't easily open it.

No handguns. Lol. Range use only by registered owners and certainly no carry allowed. (Has to be trigger locked and locked in a case between your home and the range)

    Total thread jack...

Is a M1 Garand legal to transport through Canada to Alaska? I found the law exempting 8rd Garand enbloc clips from the capacity limit but haven’t found anything stating if the Garand itself is legal.

    Garand is good to go.

Edit: do the paperwork and declare it

Sometimes I think it would be great to conceal carry but then again there are a whole lot of other people I wouldn't want to see carry. Holes in paper at the range is fine for me.

The USA is a great place but I really like knowing almost no one other than the police are walking around carrying guns. We don't need to up here. If you are hunting perfect, a farmer looking after livestock great, or you like the range no problem.

I’ve been up there with chainsaws axe and knife. Only question I was asked was why I was carrying spare fuel and a fridge full of food

Is it specified by name in any documentation? I’d like to have proof it’s legal when I show up at the border just in case. The CBSA agent I spoke with on the phone said it is not legal but she didn’t sound very confident. Paperwork and declaration is a given but I just want to make the process as painless as possible.

Semi auto 30-06 right? It's over 27" long total easily. In canada that is non restricted. She probably thought it was full auto.

Magazines must be pinned for 5 rounds capacity but clips might be different.

Pretty stupid laws that will only be bad for the good guys. The bad guys, doesn’t matter, they don’t obey the laws.
Trigger lock also dumb. You can take one off in less that 2 minutes with a flat head screw driver. Better get rid of the internet since there are plenty of videos of how to get rid of a trigger lock and how to unlock locks. Glad I live in a Texas.
    Guns haven’t changed.
    People have.

Illegal hand guns are hard to come by (relatively speaking) and penalties are very stiff.

The only bad guys with guns are the gang members killing other bad guys.

Very, very few carjackings, armed robberies, or other crimes involving guns.

I keep this in my truck for camping purposes, chopping up firewood and kindling. Will I be ok crossing the border from Montana into Canada with it in my truck or should I leave it at home?
