I just use a stock and standard leatherman up here for daily on farm use. I bring it back and forth across the border all the time.

Yup, utilitarian...no problem. I have a leatherman *cough knockoff cough* that I keep in my buggies as regular items and cross frequently. Just don't try to board a plane with it lol

I used to cross with a monadnock behind my back seat for 15 yrs. Never got searched but if either side found that? I would have at MINIMUM, been without said device lol. I stopped carrying it when I got my taco 02/17.

    Nuff said lol

Butterfly knives are prohibited and will get seized, so are switchblades/auto's.

Heres a good test for folders. Hold the blade and try to flick the knife opens. If it opens, itll probably get seized at the border. Any flicker knife (with a tab to depress causing the blade to swing open) will get seized as well.

Also, everything Joe23 had said is correct. It's a sad state in Canada right now.

... but you could bring fixed blades no problem.
