You joined like 4 months ago. Don't get in a tizzy acting like your some sort of veteran around here.

I'll be honest, this mod; Illegal? Yes. Useless? Yes. But it's just for fun and I know it made ME smile when I saw it. I think it's pretty bad ass and the workmanship is top notch ;)

Thanks for saying that... you took the words right out of my mouth. It was done to humor myself and those that can see it and remind them of they're childhood or just to see something cool. I'm probably wayyy too old to be doing this sort of thing, but it sure as hell made me grin after I wired it up! :D

As far as the police issue.. you would have to be a complete idiot to not know its not a police car coming up your ass (especially with hid's and yellow fogs). That being said, I realize the great majority of people on the road ARE idiots and I realize that it may confuse/distract some people and for that reason I already said I would be selective on where I would use it.

Its not and everyday mod, or really good for anything other than satisfying my need to stick a scanner in just about every car I've ever owned (I finally did it)! lol The cool thing is its prewired to connect to an aftermarket alarm signal, so you can use it to be your alarm scanner (which will eventually happen once I decide on a new alarm).

Anyways thanks for all the comments, I'm glad you guys liked it... I'll have some more pics and vids up later seeing how I have the day off today...

It depends on the state, actually. For CA, you're absolutely right : a solid burning red light, visible for 1000 feet under normal atmospheric conditions in emergency vehicles (I may actually be quoting the law and not know it).

Other states are different. For example, when I was in MI, and even here in VA, lots of cops are blue-only.

    Pretty much stock
Yep in NC police depts are 95% all blue..SHP is 100% blue. In my dept in VA the new cars have Blue/Red Led Bars while older cars have the all blue strobe bars.

Save the red lights for those hose pullers...:crapstorm:

Okay here's how the hood scoop looks with everything off...

Here's how it's held in place... look at the two thin machine screws below the hood scoop mount, it them as well as double sided tape provided with the scanner. I had to drill 2 tiny holes to line up with the mounts on the scanner. It took 5mins.

I wired it up and have it mounted to a stainless steel toggle switch, which I may be swapping for a led one that I ordered. But it will do for now...

Really cool. Have fun with it.

In Indiana, I think civilian vehicles are only allowed amber lights anywhere on the front. Either way, if I had a scoop, I'd have to get one of these.

Agent7 is from Toronto. In Ontario, police don't use blue lights. Blue lights usually signify snow plows. In fact if you are plowing snow on a public road, you are required to have a flashing or revolving blue light in Toronto. So he might be legal ( better mount a snowplow just to be safe) lol.
