So, being pretty mechanically inclined is the knock sensor as involved as it seems?!

    Yes, it is really involved.
I wouldn’t touch them unless I had too.

You have to remove one of the cylinder heads on the 4.0L to get to them. It’s a big job.

You don’t “have to”, but it makes it easier.

BTW, she found the thread where it’s talked about.
She knows what she is up against.

Just not sure why she is doing them?

I’m trying to think about how it could be done. The two bolts holding the coolant bypass could be removed but it seems like a nightmare to disconnect the harnesses from the knock sensors.

It’s not fun, but it can be done without removing the coolant bypass or the heads. You still have to remove the upper and lower intake though.

I’ve done it when I got the P0333 code for a rat-chewed harness. You just have to be ok with getting your hands beat up and knuckles scraped in tight, hard to reach spaces.

Well I definitely would be trying any other way to avoid removing the accessories, harmonic balancer, timing cover, timing chain, exhaust manifold, and a cylinder head and its cams. I didn't even mention having to reseal everything. Worse case you have to take a head off if all else fails. Btw, a little over a month ago, the knock sensor harness was on a nationwide backorder so I couldn't even replace mine at the time if I wanted to.

Are you sure the knock sensor needs to be replaced? The knock sensor wire harness is a notorious rodent magnet. Many times it’s the wires that have been chewed.

Some have been able to replace it without removing a cylinder head. Definitely takes small hands to accomplish.

Here is a pic of the sensors without the cylinder heads, intake, etc in the way. You can tell how they’re buried under everything.

Hi. Its taken me this long to work up the positive energy i needed, but when i called my friend who was going to let me use his shop?? Well Big Ed, decided that he wanted a piece of ass in exchange, and when i told him no, he told me not to come up! Fuckin bullshit. Thought he was my friend. But i guess its a lesson learned and the price of the pussy it alot more valueable than what i ever thought or knew!
    Excuse my language, gentlemen.
So now im getting finally ready to do this job as i type this.

I AM going to record the entire process.

Newest obstacle for me now, however is a thumb that no longer bends at the top, i severed the flexor tendon in my left thumb. So, its a bit of a bitch and takes me a little longer to get shit done. Lol. Took me 21/2 HOURS to do my oil pan gasket!! Ugh!! But i got it done and i WILL get this done!
