The old 3.4L engine was throwing knock sensor codes. I figured it was a wiring harness problem. After removing the lower intake manifold, I see where the KS wiring harness was pinched at the location shown in the picture below. I don't like having some part of a wiring harness being pinched. Looks like a problem waiting to happen.

    Is this wrong?

Has anyone rerouted the KW wiring harness out through a different location to avoid the pinch?

There should be a tunnel it should route through under the intake manifold and they are routed then over the large water hose inlet pipe. First time I seen this, I thought why would they route it that way?, it’s to take up slack and keep it from flopping around under the manifold till it breaks the connection. I think it got pinched when there was intake gasket replacement, I don’t think people remember where all the wires and hoses go and that’s where a good toyota tech knows these little secrets. When looking at the engine and putting that manifold on pull the wire over to the right towards the battery get the manifold down and finger tighten and check to make sure it doesn’t get pinched. It can happen to anyone, I’m sure you didn’t do that though, you know what’s up.

Thank you. Looks like the last person who worked in it put it on the wrong side and pinched it.
