Yesterday I replaced my tokico front struts with bilstein 5100's on my 2003 tacoma. The install was pretty simple, and rides much better now, but I hope this is not a fluke. I have been hearing a knocking sound on the passenger side when I turn at different speeds. Is this typical after a strut replacement, is it the struts that are making the knocking sound, or is it something I did when I disconnected then reconnected the sway bar? I only disconnected the sway bar on the passenger side...then reconnected after the strut/spring assembly was in place.

Other than the knocking, the ride is 100 times better.

Is the sway bar link loose, on the passenger side. My Honda makes knocking sounds and found that sway bar links were the problem.

I checked the sway bar and links, and everything is tight. Thanks for trying though.

What do you mean by tab.....I have toytec lift spacers in the front for the upper mount, and everything lined up fine.

a few weeks ago I had a knocking noise from my front end also. It was making the noise because one of my studs broke. I suppose the way you can find out if its your swaybar, then just take it off, and if it still makes the noise then you know its not the sway bar. I just took mine off yesterday.

Sway bar is overrated anyway. ;)

I've had mine off for a while now, and besides a little more lean in the corners, I haven't had any issues. I've even had to do emergency maneuvers to avoid Bambi the other day and never felt it was out of control at any time.

I actually prefer the ride with out it since now my left and right sides aren't linked quite as much so bumps stay on their own side better.

Did you remove it completely or just disconnect it? I always figured the bar added some "protection" for the steering rack.

Mines completely gone and sitting in the corner of the garage. Originally, I just left it disconnected and zip tied it up out of the way, but I eventually just completely removed it.

I do have a bud built skid plate that well covers the steering, but never really thought about the sway bar as protecting anything since its so close to the underbody and would take quite the odd scenario for it to offer protection.

If you got the 3 pieces of bud built skids, you certainly don't need any added protection the sway bar might offer.

I've been considering those BB skids. Do they come unpainted raw metal?
