Knocking issues at cold start

    You dont need to be under any apprehension about the noise, when I went to the dealer and spoke to the service people about it they said if I did not have a code I should not worry about it. Pushing 380k miles now no problem although I let it warm up a little in the morning so I don't have to hear it, this is somewhat aggravating.
    I worked on a Camry that didn't throw a code but until I changed the crank ps the car would quit everywhere so.
    When I bought the truck (brand new) I took it in for a noise, the mech said it was the shaft and that I should raise the volume of the radio if I did not want to hear it (these certified kids are a pita sometimes) after looking again I found the fire wall plate for the steering shaft was nowhere around.
    I wish I knew what the heck the knocking sound is, I dont have a clue.
