I got so sick of playing with that hard black shaft i had to try the female side.

It was super easy to replace just matchmark the yoke. I didnt use a puller at all and just airhammered it off with a flat bit, worked very well. Might as well just do u joint also since youll have it out already, why waste the time yanno.

Yup. Got a u-joint on hand in case. Undecided yet tho if Ill replace it or just toss it in the box as a spare. Only 70k on the truck.. kinda hoping those will last a lot longer than that

Yo @MurderedTacoV2 how important do you think the washer between the C.B. and the yoke is..? Needless to say the truck is back together, all tools cleaned up, just about to throw the old one in the trash, and that damn washer fell out of the old bearing on the floor..

I have no idea what its purpose is.. Cant be more than .020" thick, but it does seem to be a hardened steel. Not really seeing a ton of info about it on here. Some people dont even mention it

Image for reference pulled from the torque spec thread. Wondering about the 'washer', not the 'plate washer' I have that one :bananadead:

Well, today i learned i no longer have a washer behind my carrier bearing

I didnt even see one unless it was still stuck in my yoke cuz it was in a vise. All i saw that came off was the bearing itself and then just put the new one back on. Hmmm

Yeah mine was stuck in the grease on the face of the actual bearing inside the whole CB assembly. Maybe you got lucky and yours stuck on the face of the yoke..

I really can't figure out what it would be for though. Unless it's just a spacer :notsure:

Did like a 20 mile test drive around the block without it. No noticeable problems whatsoever. But figured I just barely had enough time, so I may as well put it back in
