I have about 285k. I haven't really noticed it much after I did the seafoam treatment thing through the air intake and the gasoline. This past winter, I noticed it, but only on a really cold morning of about 23 degrees Faren. It lasted for about 5 seconds.

I have had this problem as well on my ‘04 with the 3rz engine. It started in the cold weather, below 45 deg, when the engine had about 44k miles on it. It goes away if I let it sit and idle for about a minute. I change the oil every 5-6k miles with a full synthetic, and the noise has never gotten worse, and I now have 307k miles on the truck.‍♂️

I have a 2015 2.7 with 165,000 miles - I went camping over the weekend near Mammoth Mtn- it got down to 27 degrees F - I started the truck to warm it up. It has knocked before - this time like all others the low pressure light stayed on for at while - this time at idle for at least 5 min while I broke camp. The with the light still on I drove slowly it stayed on for several miles. I figured it would be better to blowup the engine on a paved road near town rather than in the boonies.
I have the factory oil filter and the synthetic oil per spec.
    Help
Could this be a worn oil pump? or has any one figured this out? Should I consider a pre oiling pump?

I think you should probably put a manual guage where the oil pressure sender goes and see what your oil pressure is to see if you have a actual mechanical problem. Also do have someone that can cut your oil filter and see if there is metal in it?

    Thanks,
It seems that when the oil light goes off the knock goes away - and it runs smoother. Will do on the cut open the oil filter & I may get a adapter on the filter to put in a gauge.

Cutting the oil filter open will for sure tell us if there is a failure or not
