I just bought my new Baby at 15,500. A 2013, a week old, Filled her up with Mobil 93 octane. Today I noticed the engine knocking for part of the trip, not all of it. I just wanted to know if this was normal for the V6 Taco or not? I'm asking because I don't know. I searched but could not find any close to mine. Thanks

Various sounds can be hard to describe.

By knocking, are you meaning pre-detonation, or pinging? Marbles in a can sound?

I wouldn't think that would be normal, as it's usually an indicator of bad things to come.

Unfortunately yes it is normal. Doesn't matter what octane you put in it. It's a tuning issue from the factory. They have either a TSB or recall flash update regarding the knocking. Fixed it for some, others it did not.

Pre-detonation I would not know or pinging. it was just a low knocking sound. At first I mistook it for cars going over cracks in the road.
