I had the clear coat coming off and used carbon fiber vinyl wrap to cover it. Works great. B584F780-D410-4CB0-9778-EF446B27416A.jpg

I have a indigo ink perl 07. The clear coat was an issue but my buddy does auto body so got it professionally fixed for 100$. The blower motor resistor and plug should be changed to the newer updated version. Its only like 30$ for the oem one. If you have rust i would recommend hitting it with a wire brush and fluid film the inside and out of the frame. Other than that they are great trucks with no other big issues

My 2005 DCLB 4.0 auto has 267,000 miles on it. Things I've experienced:

Typical stuff like front brake rotors and pads.

Rear differential vent plugs, causing rear axle to over pressurize and rear axle seals to leak oil - this oil wrecks your rear brake shoes.

Replaced one front brake caliper. Replaced one rear wheel brake cylinder.

Replaces rear driveshaft carrier bearing and universal joints.

Replaced front and rear wheel bearings.

Replaced all rear differential bearings including pinion bearing and seal.

    Replaced one parking brake cable.

Drivers side front half-shaft bearing failure: replace with ECGS bushing

    Replaced steering shaft universal joint.

Replaced upper control arms due to worn out ball joint.

    Replaced serpentine belt and pulleys.

Still experience stiff shifter periodically (usually when its cold or after the truck has sat in cold wet weather for a while.

Replaced the heater fan speed control resistor several times.

Replaced several bulbs in console and dash.

Repainted the roof - the paint was failing and it was starting to experience rust.

    Rear bumper is rusting.

Got the frame recall inspection and got the spray coating instead of frame replacement (big disappointment for me; I wanted a new frame)

Got the rear leaf spring recall done.

Headlights have gotten hazed and look awful.

    Replaced headlight bulbs.

At least 53 oil changes and three transmission drain and fills.

Replaced differential fluids and transfer case fluid several times.

    Coolant system flush several times.

Several heater filter changes, several engine air filter changes.

Undercoated with Krown rust prevention every couple years.

I've probably forgotten something, but to summarize: moving wear parts will wear out but some things have remarkable longevity like the original fuel pump, water pump, power steering pump, transmission, engine, compression, radiator, etc... It's a Toyota; it's as good as you can expect any truck to be if not better. :benchpress:

Also, replaced muffler when a rust hole started in the upper rear face of the muffler (at around 250,000 miles).

Known problems are being a member of TW and buying tons of mods for the truck.

That has been my only major problem since buying our truck three years ago.

    Pretty much at any mileage.

I’ve had to replace my rear passenger one at 20k personally. I’ve read on here of people having to change them as early as 5k Miles.

They suck, and the more you off road or driving on streets with pot holes, the faster then need replacing.

Me, I’ve never gone off-roading but live in Houston which has crappy roads.

My biggest issue with my 07 Sport would be that I cant seem to stop spending money on mods!!

So I just got mine, little late lol but it's an 07 tacoma sr5 access cab 4x4, 4.0 engine.... Question have any of you guys changed your fluids, I ask because other than the engine oil being ok as conventional 5 w 30 ... the transfer case and two differentials should they be synthetic or conventional as well? the manual doesn't say either way? I am going to do this myself.

RUST. It seems to be Toyota's Achilles heel. It is almost as if they do it on purpose but I know better. But at least it does not explode in flames like a Ford.
