I have a 2017 Tacoma TRD Off-road and am currently looking for a 265/75r16 size. I have narrowed it down to the bfg ko2, goodyear duratrac, and dick cepek extreme country. I live in eastern Oregon so we get lots of snow and ice in the winter and need something with good traction there. I will be traveling 500+ miles back and fourth to college. So, I want something not to loud on the freeway, but also like to do a good amount of off-roading with my friends and want the tire to be reliable off road. What would be the best choice? I am open to suggestions.

Duratrac, my aunt uses them on all their vehicles in Colorado and I know some guys down here that wheel with them and they can handle more than what you will throw at them.

I like my BFG ko2s but...
Throw Cooper Discoverer S/T MAXX on your consideration list. They seem to have good reviews with Tacoma owners.

Duras. Kick ass in the snow and pretty well mannered on the highway.

I have Ko2's in 315/70/17 and love them. Best snow tire I have ran and they have been awesome in the rocks. Zero flats after this summer and I ran a ton of trail's here in Northern California. Although mine are E rated. Really a quiet tire on the road as well. Much quieter than a bunch of others..including some coopers.

Tore my sidewall a little bit somewhere on Fordyce! Awesome tire..

6 if you're just doing lots of highway miles. Remember duratracs get loud as they wear though.

I’ll second Cooper Tires. I run the STT Pro’s, but Cooper is the only tire I’ll ever run again.

I have heard nothing but good about the coopers, but they are $50 more a tire and are 10 pounds heavier than the duratracs

Weight was the main reason i was gonna go duratracs. I ended up going 265 70 17 ko2 in a c load range. 45lbs a tire....

Which Cooper tire? The STT Max and STT Pro 265/75R16 both weigh 54 pounds. The Duratracs weigh 51 pounds. That’s not a huge difference.

Had Duratracs on the Tundra. Blew two tires, sidewalls completely gave out. Good tire otherwise. Got loud once worn down but every tires does. Sidewalls chunked easy. Would love to run again just to many reasons not to. A light tire isn’t the best tire, be the reason why you see everyone complain about sidewalls. My Tundra never hit more than dirt roads and rarely ever hauled. I’ll be going KO2 or Cooper St Maxx next.

You don’t want 6 ply. What’s your biggest concern? MPG’s or engine performance? I am running 285/75R16’s that weigh 61 pounds a piece and I don’t really notice a ton of difference in accelerating and deceleration. And I live in hilly ass NC.
