Gave the side a quick sanding to find all the sins. The black spot is a filled hole that I had missed earlier.

Finished up the stern... mostly. Still need to blank off the side lateral support ends.

Odd as it may sound, but the 4043 welding wire from harbor freight is a big win! This stuff just purrs out of my 30A spool gun. It's much better than the wire I get from my local welding supply company.

    i think you're missing some words ;)

so did the wife decide you're spending too much time with her or something, or is the second boat for her?

did you ever finish the first boat?

    All right. I'll come clean.

SWMBO told me I need to get moving on the second boat, because when things warm up, your ass is mine!

    Her words.

The finish work is about what is left on the 1st boat.

It's kind of a pain in the ass working with aluminum. You can't just prime it and paint it. You have to chemicaly treat it to prep for the primer.

The stuff is not good stuff. Id rather suit up and mask up and do both boats at the same time to be safe.

Screwed down the anti twist panel to the forms. Aluminum wants to do some wild things when you weld it. Steps need to be taken to keep the boat from twisting.

Heavy tacked in the rear floor piece. Its starting to get less flexible.

Front floor panal tack welded in and the forms removed. The shape of the boat is pretty much set in stone at this point.

Edit: Top rail/chine tack welded in. This realy starts to maske the boat rigid.

Close up of the top rail/chine. 3/4 x 2" aluminumn extrusion clamped to the top of the boat side.

You just clamp and weld and work your way from one end to the other.

Its not hard, just takes some time.

I think I used 6 C clamps to do the job.
