Because of the drop axles, the deck height will be lower. I never liked the look of a trailer that does not sit level when hooked to the tow vehicle. I cut the tongue tube and weld the pieces together. This gives me a normal hitch height.

I am in the process of flipping the trailer right side up, but decided to just leave it on the chain falls standing on its side. I got some work on the Tundra truck bumper that I want to knock out. The extra room will help.

This is why I like rebuilding Toyota trucks.

2021 horn on the right. There is supposed to be 2 horns. It got smashed during the crash.

1998 Tacoma horn on the left. A little age on the thing and it works and fits perfectly.

Decided to give it an undercoating before I installed the lights and grill.

Reminds me, I need to Cosmoline the frame on my '24 before the cold sets in...

I blew Fluid Film on my vehicles years ago. They stunk for at least 3 months! Good thing I didn't have a garage at the time. Never again. Either dripless undercoat or chainsaw bar oil.

Got my fabbed bumper primed. Hopefully I can get the first coat of black on tonight. Humidity is low, so paint dries decent. I need to take advantage of that.

We had a high of 88*. Not much humidity, so I thought it was quite pleasant.

The wife, in the other hand, said she was going inside after 30 minutes.

I moved the truck to the house garage. I have some interior work that needs done. I can't open the ginormous rear doors in the shop, so the house garage is was where it ended up.

Didn't get any decent pics of the bumper mounted, but it is mounted. I have some small amount of adjustment that needs mades made.

In order to remove the air bag ECU, much of the lower, front interior has to be removed to gain access.
I do not enjoy this part of rebuilding a vehicle. Lots of twisting, contorting and abnormally flexing your hands to loosen fasteners. You will be sore for a day or so.

Removing the console is a bit unnerving. There are only 9 screws and bolts that hold the entire console in place. The hard part is convincing yourself that most parts are " friction fit". They pop off with proper pulling.20240806_104215.jpg

This is the brain that tells the air bags to blow and or tells your seat belt chest strap to retract. They make it hard to access.

Weather people know or not, there is an explosive charge in your seatbelt retractor. When the ECU recieves a signal that a crash has occured, the computer decides if the seat belt chest belt should be tightened. If the ECU says the belt needs tightened, it will tighten very fast. This is why people often have a bruise across their chest after an accident. It's not always from the sudden stop of an accident. The very rapid belt tightening causes the bruise. The reason for it, is it slows you from contacting the deployed airbag and reducing facial injuries.

In order to gain access to this little, computer, all these interior parts needed to be removed.

On the plus side, it will make vacuuming the interior much, more easy. The previous owners had some sort of wire haired dog. That type of hair is a bitch to vacuum up!
