This pic is out of sequence. It's a dry mock up before I welded on the trailing arm brackets. Since the deck is suspended by chains, the trailing arms keep the deck from swinging around.

I suppose they wouldn't look kindly upon you, if you just drove it to the inspection site yourself...

Might not be able to get tags for it if you don't go through that inspection. I went through the salvage process here in PA before and it's a helluva rig-a-morrow...

    It does take some patience.

Truck got signed off by the mechanic this afternoon. Truck was dropped off an hour ago.

Now the sheriff gets to check it over stolen parts.

Everyone seems to get a cut!

Good lort. We can get tags, just have to get an enhanced inspection here in PA. After it passes and you get a sticker, you're good.

My first car ('87 Oldsmobile) whenever we went to register it in PA it threw some red flags. Originally sold in PA, totaled, and someone in Maryland fixed it and washed the title. Had to take all kinds of pictures and extra stuff. Still passed with the motor mount zip tied :anonymous:

I really can't find fault with the system. It was a pretty loose program previously. Lots of shady peeps doing the bare minimum and flipping the vehicle for quick cash.

I only build vehicles for myself, so I take close 2 years before I'm happy with the repairs.

I recently found out that this bolt pattern is used by S-10 type pickups.

As soon as I peddle something, I'll get a set from local junk yard.

They want $25/wheel and the same for tires. They asked if I required 4 identical rims and four identical tires? I said 2 pairs of each is all I want. No one can look at both sides of a trailer at the same time. I know I can't.

I actually prefer light truck tires for light duty utility trailers.

The worst LT tire is better than the best ST tire.

Picking up my next zero turn project in the morning.

I see the pro cutters are using these more and more.

This one was sitting next to a garage that caught fire. I like repairing units that caught fire. Just plastic and wires that need swapped out. Hopefully it's a straightforward fix.

Lots of folks running those machines now. Wish Michigan was a bit closer to MA; I’d be interested in this one for sure.

On a serious note, you seem to get a lot of Toro and Exmark mowers. You see more Scags around here than any other brand.

Do you just prefer working on Toro's and Exmark's or are they that popular there?

I've found that the technical resources are very easy to come by.

I learned early on how easy it was to find diagrams, so I stuck with the Toro/Exmark company. Both are owned by Toro and many parts are the same.

Secondly, I wanted to specialize in those only. It makes it easier to fix them when you have an idea where to start. I don't have to remember every odd brand I may have worked on.

Plus, I honestly think the color red sells better.

Got a few minutes to give the project stand up ZT a quick assessment.

Gave it a serious pressure washing. The top of the deck is coated with built up oil residue and lawn clippings. Huge mess.

I could not get the unit to roll over with the starter. Tried using the flywheel with a breaker bar. No go.

    She is froze up.

I'm assuming it has a bad main seal. The engine has to come out regardless of my next step...

Unfortunately, with these units, the deck and the engine are bolted to the same carriage. The deck needs removed before I can gain access to the engine drive pulleys. I know, strange .

The way the chassis is designed, I can't even access the #1 spark plug.

    Not a fan.

    Update:

Pulled the deck. Removing the deck from a stand up ZT is no fun. 1 star!

This deck was coated with oily dirt. No way about it, you gonna get dirty no matter what pig you gotta wrestle.

Once the deck was off I could access the electric clutch retaining bolt. Since everything was coated in oil, the clutch fell right off.

With clutch out of the way I was able to put a pipe wrench on the crank. The froze up engine broke free with only needing 2-3 ugga duggas.

At that point I figured what the hell. Let's toss a battery in it and see what happens. I was already prepared to hunt for an engine.

Threw the choke on and twisted the key. Totally surprised that she kicked over and stayed running, took off the choke and it was even more smooth! Did a few full throttle/ idle cycles to see what kind of smoke I could make it produce. Nothing but warm butter! The thing just purred no matter the rpms I ran it. No smoke!

Like I said earlier, the crank will need a seal, but with the deck out of the way, pulling the engine will be cake.

I'm the perfect example that it's better to be lucky than good.

I love it when you get something with an engine that isn't running that runs good when you get it running :yay:

Snuck out and hoisted the unit up to get a better look at the underside.

    Yuck!

Cut the muffler out and it appears you'd have true duals.
