I have two items with the same Kawasaki engine, one in a DR Brush Mower and one in John Dear X500, one has twelve years and 1200 hours and the other has ten years 2000 hours. Both start and run great with only general regular maintenance accord to the schedule in the manual. I have no experience with the Kohler.

    WOW, some beautiful lawn pics.
27 hp kawi, on a 48" JD, 27 hp Kohler on a L60" Tank and a 31hp f.i. Kohler on a PZ72" all zero turns do excellent with timely service. Service is key. Fuel turns to crap quick so keep it fresh if it sits for a while ad some sta-bil.
I second what jerneyman sayz, A lot of the time most problems are fuel related and/or poor maintenance.
