Just picked up my 2012, and was told about Krex graphite engine lubricant. Every 6mo/5k miles by the dealer which supposed to help warrant till 10yr/200k, or somethin. Lemme hear it, and thanks in advance.

Alot of Tacoma's reach 200k with nothing more than changing the oil. Hell most dont even use synthetic to reach that number, so I doubt it would do anything major except make your wallet thinner.

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
    Well that's a new money-making angle I hadn't heard of yet.

I hear adding gold flakes to the radiator every 10K helps keep the truck from overheating.
Don't forget the powdered platinum in the transmission and T-case. Supposed to make the shifts smoother.
Japanese vehicles also typically like finely-sliced diamonds sprinkled into the washer fluid. It helps remove the worst of the baked-on bugs.

I have a bridge you may be interested in......

I remember back in the 80's when Teflon oil additives were all the craze. As far as I know they never did anything really beneficial and sometimes were even harmful when they clogged oil ports.

"Wonder" additives remind me of the "chip" my brother-in-law was telling me he was going to purchase that would allow his Ford 250 Super Duty Diesel to get 27 MPG, even when pulling a trailer! Of course, such a chip doesn't exist, and it's not a "conspiracy" that it doesn't either. If Ford could produce a heavy Diesel pickup capable of towing a 25,000 pound goose-neck trailer while getting 27 mpg they would do so in a heartbeat -- and have a 100% market share in truck sales. The same goes for an oil additive.

Now such additives such as powdered graphite and molybdenum disulfide are beneficial in certain greases, and are already there.

Krex is crap. Period. If you want additives that do what they say they do, use BG Products. They have additives for almost everything. After 23 years in the car business, IMO, BG is the best.

I would not want to put weird additives in my engine when the oil pressure is used by the VVTi hardware.

It's just a method to turn you into a somewhat guaranteed revenue stream for the dealership service department.
