don't think so. I have a small amount of FF on my frame from last week (I started doing it and said screw this). I told the krown guys about it and they said no issue at all, they'll spray right over it.

That's what i'm using on my truck every year for somthing like 90-100$.

When i sold my 2005 in 2011 frame was not bad even if the truck has done something like 50K miles on gravel road.

Use the same system on my 2011 and frame is nice. Sure you'll see some rust on frame and mechanical parts. You can look at your frame the way you look at body panels. Totaly different paint system.

I'll take the bait whether you're trolling or not. :D

I side with the guys that think an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure so I used FF on my truck this fall. Also, to the best of my knowledge, there isn't a single thread on here that I've found where someone applied oil/Krown/FF/POR and had their frames rust. Which leads me to believe they all work pretty well and certainly better than doing nothing at all if you live in a harsh environment.

I've never heard anything bad about Krown, just don't have anyone in my area that professionally applies it. Nor do I have anyone that does FF either so I applied it myself.

That second part above goes to your original question about cost. Not sure how much Krown costs from a professional applier, but a few rattle cans of FF and a couple hours on a Saturday is all it cost me. That is well worth it in my book.

The first time I repainted my frame I used cheap Tremclad Rust paint which really doesn't last.

I then found that Krylon Industrial Rust paint in satin black is damn near as close to factory that you can get. It dries real fast and is bullet proof. I painted my frame and all components underneath and it still looked new the day I brought it in to be Krowned a few weeks ago. Furthermore, it usually costs $65 in these parts to get it done at a small independent shop (if you know the guy). I really know the guy, so rum is the barter tool.

Sorry the link should has been right Under the " it's what i'm using"

It's not krwon. It's probably a similar product. I'm a true believer about rust treatment every year. It's efficient against rust, it protects mechanical parts and it's way easier to work on the truck cause bolts and parts are not rusted and sized.

500$ for 5 years or 1 000$ for 10 years it's a no brainer and you'll save it or money will coming back at resale.

Few quick pics from this morning, since you asked for pics...

I've Had the truck Krown'd every winter since I bought it in 2008. It was a new 2009 at that time.

Not only is the frame in good shape, but most hardware comes apart a easily when I need it to.

It's messy stuff but it helps fight rust. They make soap for cleaning it off your hands after a wrench session.

It really leaches into all the hard to reach spots as it gets warm in the summer, which might leave oil residue on the body. They make soap for that too.

Do you wash the underbody throughout the winter despite having the krown? I just cannot justify leaving the salt on the truck just because its been krowned. I wont do the high pressure auto carwash, just a garden hose when temps allow.

I have used a pressure washer and a regular hose on occasion. There's a good film left behind after said wash, so you'll still have a barrier for rust. Just don't overdo the high pressure wash, it'll be fine.

If you're particular about keeping your engine bay spotless, ask the shop to leave the engine bay alone. I personally prefer to have the oil there for rust prevention, but I know many like a squeaky clean engine. It catches dust in the summer and looks messy.

Small World. I had them Krown my Tacoma on the 4th.

I researched rustproofing pretty extensively and Krown always came out on top. It is affordable and easy enough to get done. Wish that there was a location thaat was closer, but the drive to Mechanicsburg is not bad.

Ok guys. I did the krown treatment today. I have to say, i am sold. I am Very impressed with the whole process, and the service i received. the guy let me watch the whole thing, explained it to me, and did an Extremely thorough job. The whole underside of my truck is glistening, and dripping with the stuff. I know fluid film is proven and respected, but you just cannot do as thorough as a job with it at home unless you have some special equipment. The guy drilled holes in key places(all out of sight, inside the doors etc) , inserted a special wand and sprayed the krown behind the sheet metal on the whole truck. On the back, he removed the tailights, and inserted what had to be a 6 foot wand all the way down the insides of the bed, and sprayed. The inside of my bumper, tailgate, spare tire, hood, gas door, skid plate, absolutely everything is covered. I will be doing this every year to protect the truck. Pic one: all doors open for drilling and spraying, hood open for spraying, as well as gas door. [IMG]the 6 foot wand inserted behind the bed sheet metal[IMG]up on the lift, so he could spray leafsprings, everything in the wheel well areas, and the entire underside[IMG]everything is dripping wet with the krown [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]one of the hole plugs. All located inside the doors, out of sight. They look completely factory.[IMG]some dripping coming from the tailgate. Dripping should stop within 24 hours. [IMG]they do wash the vehicles to get overspray off after the krowning. I opted to wash it myself on the way home. Didn't want their dirty, gritty brush touching my paint.

Skiergd, excellent post!! And to think when I went to have mine done I talked to the guy a bit then went in and sat on my ass on the couch while they worked on it ;) If you are parking on concrete I would give it two days before all the dripping stops just to be safe. I was surprised by how much they spray the trucks....they get everything! Today I washed (not the frame) the truck with some Meguiars car soap, clay barred it and applied some Mequiars Ultimate Liquid Wax( Sealant)...I think getting it Krowned got me motivated to keep the rest of the truck in great condition.

Even if it does drip on the concrete it won't take many rainfalls to make it fade to nothing
